We have already seen what happens when the Cowboys do have success: It's practically in spite of Tony Romo ("they took the ball out of his hands"). He will need to not only win SBs but put up Montana-like performances, and even then it might not be enough. That's the nature of being a Cowboys quarterback. Everyone needs a supporting cast, but only when it's the Cowboys do they get mentioned as excuses.

The sad part is Romo could win back-to-back SBs and we would still have to debate whether or not he would make it into the HOF. The way the media has downplayed his career thus far is beyond disrespectful.

Rodgers is clearly the best - but his edge over Romo is not that great and when you factor in his failures at comebacks its close.
I defy anyone to show that Brady is better than Romo. So frankly I would have ROmo and Brady as 2A and 2B.
After that as much as I hate the Rapist on the football field he comes next. Brees is dropping but I would put him over the rest still at this point. That is my top 5.

After that I go with Rivers then depending on what time of the season Peyton Manning. Early on he could be pushing for the top but by the end of the year he is barely top 10.

Frankly after them Eli is next; and after that I think there is a real gap to Luck and the rest. Luck feasts on weak teams but throws picks against the better ones. The Media has already basically got him in the HOF despite this.

If he wins a SB, I think he gets in. He has to win one though.

Every time I see the media on ESPN or NFL network talking about the Cowboys this offseason it's like we won last year despite tony romo.

They keep saying "yea look they had to take the ball away from him for him to be successful." And taking any credit they can away from Tony. Yet Russell Wilson sucks but has a great running game that gets him a lot further than he would normally get and the narrative for him is he's a great young Qb. And Tony Romo sucks. I don't get it man

Here's my current Qb rankings

1. Tony Romo- consistent badass. Top 5 and #1 overall in several Qb categories last season. Should have been MVP

2. Brady - 4th SB Champ last season. Throwing to a bunch of Cole Beasleys and Gronk. Impressive whether he's a cheater or not.

3. Rapeliesberger- great Qb. Had a great season last year in a perineal great defensive division.

4. Rodgers - shocking? I know. I just have never been impressed with HIM. I'm impressed by his Wrs. His scheme he plays in. He has pretty good arm strength. But every time I see a GB highlight where the narrative is a great play by Rodgers, in reality I see a WIDE open Jordy Nelson against a terrible Chicago or Minn defense. And he deserves some blame for CHOKING bigger than Tony Romo ever has in past yrs NFC title game.

5. Luck - I know he throws a ton of ints but he also makes throws I don't really see any other Qb making currently. Youth and he's a ferocious leader and competitor put him in my top 5

None of these rankings matter. But it still surprises me that Tony's not consistently considered a top-5 QB. Especially after last season.

If the team has real success ever, he's going to vault into that just-behind-Aaron-Rodgers consideration that I think he actually deserves, though.

IMO top QB play is so close, that its more realistic to judge by tiers, not by a numerical overall value. Right now tier one is Rodgers, Luck, Brady, Tier two is Peyton, Brees, Romo, Wilson, Rivers, Roethlisburger.

It's totally disrespectful but as for me I could care less how the media view Tony.

He's getting the same treatment now Troy got when he was QB here, its in spite of him if the team succeeds and when Tony retires the next great QB whoever he may be he is going to get the same treatment too as Hos always say embrace the hate at least the team is doing something right when the haters come out from under their rocks.

Yeah no way. It's not even close. Russ is a winner, straight up, but he's not a better QB than Romo and it's not even a discussion.
Exactly imo Wilson is an athlete that happens to play QB, no doubt he's a talented player but for any list to have him as a top 5 QB ahead of Romo is totally laughable.

I like your list but I will have to disagree with you regarding Rodgers, the guy can flat out play QB and is a bonafide #1 tier QB in this league he like Tony if injured for a substantial period of time their respective teams suffers and if I'm starting a team and had my choice between him and Tony, and as much of a fan I am of Tony it would be Rodgers.

And the top rated QB in the league last year isn't?
I see where you're coming from it really is a double standard when it comes to Cowboys QBs outside of Staubach, when Aikman was here it was "he had talent around him" garbage and now with Romo as the QB its "he's only good now because the team took the ball out of his hands" nonsense the reason he was so good last season. The willfull disrespect that Tony receives not only from the media, he gets disrespected by Cowboys fans, fans of other teams and the ultimate disdain is from some of the players around the league it's ridiculous and anyone who has Russell Wilson ahead of Tony on any QB list is not worth listening too or talk too.
