This is the way most teams countered D.Ware last year.
They play the slot WR to his side and force him into playing the WR on the line. This opens the pass and the run.
Also, Ellis will be tested on his side as well.
Can he handle the responsibility of jamming the reciever and zone coverage?
Fred Taylor is quick to the corners and off tackle runs, Ellis/Ware needs to be in the right position or a big play will open up.
Until we handle this offensive set we will experience problems.
This is my key to this game.

not really

cause then we can put Ware on the line, then stick a CB on them, if we're really afraid.

Or have him "pretend" to cover the WR, then rush the passer and have the safety pick him up on realse

With Ware one year smarter in the system, they can keep these things from happening.

i dont think we should have to worry about greg ellis covering a WR or anybody in the end zone. im hoping that BP is smarter than that.

 I'm still shocked that Ellis is starting.

and on another note... almost 2 1/2 years on the board, and I just now discovered where you guys have been getting all of those cool smilies from.

:suxskins: :puke: :suxjints: :suxiggle: :jints: :beer2:

funny what you figure out when it finally dawns on you what the word [More] under the smilie category means.

Well this exposes your safties. Roy has to give help deep and that leaves two WR's in man to man.
We must counter the scheme by blitzing the opposite LB and hope you reach the QB before he finds someone open.
Watch you will see this is how teams play us.

Dallas will find ways to send Roy on a blitz from time to time.

I hope that Jacksonville uses a 3 WR set.. Their WRs are no good.. Newman, Henry, and Glenn would eat their lunches.. Roy will have some fun this game, no doubt in my mind..

Well their WRs are unproven. They have potential to be good. I think they do give us problems though cause they're HUGE... Jones 6-6, Wilford, 6-4, and if Williams is their 3rd, he's 6-4.

Or they may just play nickel.
Exactly.

Tunahelper, you have to have a little more faith than this. We have a Hall of Fame, defensive-oriented head coach who has coached this particular defense for decades... Surely you know beating us won't be as easy as putting an extra WR in the slot.

eh.. Huge doesn't matter if you can't get separation..

besides, Henry is a big corner.. and you know that Newman will stick to his guy like glue.. Glenn proved last year against Plexico that he can cover a big man just fine.. where they have size, we have skills and speed.. I'll take skills and speed over size any day..

Which is why Dallas has to get in the face of Leftwich. If you allow him to stand back there he will be able to throw accurate passes to these big targets. Dallas has to harass Leftwich force him to throw before he is ready

Damn! Is that the tallest WR corp in the league?

I am also shocked to see Ellis starting. I would go 3-wide not to challenge Ware, but to test Ellis.

You are going to get your wish. We'll see a lot of 3 wide and Dallas will spend a lot of time in the nickel IMO.

if they go 3 WR set we will go with our nickle defense. probably either A. Glenn or Reeves will be playing. I think ellis then comes out since Roy can play the run and is big enough as well to attack the LOS. this bodes well for ware and company since they don't have a FB in the back field to block the pass rush.

Jones has some deep speed but the other two are not very fast. this is certainly going to test our defense but I think we match up pretty well.

look for us to run some 3 WR sets to put the jags in nickle defense and we will probably run from this formation since they would have to remove one of their LBs.

witten is going to have a big game, they will have problem matching up against him.

I think Dallas D is going to give Jacksonville many different looks in this game including some blitz packages that we have not seen this pre-season. I think this defense now has the versatility to give offenses many different looks and things to worry about.

Ellis plays LE in the nickel.

All the more likely that we'll see a lot of 3 wides with Mercedes Lewis hobbled.

Its a good matchup for Dallas, because our #3 CB is a heck of a lot better than Jacksonville's #3 WR.
