Cap management is exactly that.
You look at the trend - $10M/year increase.
And you look at the big contracts when you expect them to go away.
And would be Witten and Romo, no later than 2018.
Then you can solve today's cap problems by using that excess in 2018/2019 when Dak is still cheap.

Romo cannot be released this year.
It would literally explode the cap.
You can June 1 Romo but that will be a can of worms I dont want to open in this thread,

Well then you are ignoring the 1,000 lbs gorilla.

It was how I passed out. I was motionless on a hard floor for hours. Every pressure point that I was laying on was dead when I awoke. Head, knees, arms....I could barely walk for a month. I was petrified.

You sir, I have a lot of respect for. My ex-wife was a nurse who got hooked on pain meds after her Crohns surgery. It ruined her career they took her license away in CA to be a nurse. I spent thousands in rehabs and programs etc... She had 2 affairs and I said enough is enough. She now does makeup videos and sells makeup. I congratulate you sir.

The 1000lb gorilla is the pass rush to me.
The problem is there may not be a good FA, with Wilkerson signed and also underperforming.
Sheard stats are not great either unless you know of an alternative FA.

What do we do about it?
Draft a round 1 and/or round 2 DE if one is worthy.
Draft at least a couple more later in the draft.

The bottom line is the marginal loss from cutting Crawford seems to be vastly outweighed by the margin gain from available cap to service other needs.

With the money saved from no FA DE and June 1 TCrawford, fortify the other parts of the D.
That would be CB, SS and possibly MLB even if Jaylon recovers.
May used that saved up $ for a FA WR and RT if one is worthy.

Then we can draft:
Round 1: BPA between DE/CB/WR
Round 2: What we did not draft in round 1
Round 3: BPA between DE/OT/G
Round 3 comp: Between DE/OT/G
Round 4: BPA or DE
Round 5: BPA or DE
Round 6: BPA
Round 7: BPA

Oh wow... So sorry that your life has been destroyed by addiction. I was an absolute degenerate abuser of drugs and humans. I am not proud of it but I feel that it is helpful to some to know my story. There is hope for even the most pathetic addicts. I am one...I was homeless, possessed, a felon by practice (never convicted), an abuser of my fellow man, and had overdosed many times.. I was even "paddled" back to life on one occasion. Opiate addiction is a hell I never want to return to, and I pray for anyone that has experienced this.

Thanks for the kind words and God bless.

They gain 5M in cap space if Romo is cut or traded this coming offseason. That is without using the June 1st method. They gain even more if June 1st is used.

I do not claim to be a cap expert, just looking at obvious stuff in player contracts and projections.

I said you cannot release Romo this year (2016), which has dead cap of $40M.

Next year, you would have $5M savings if you release Romo.
However, if you June 1 Romo, then you save $15M in 2017 while pushing $10M into 2018.
Remember cap goes up $10M/year this few years roughly, and you dont pay Romo salary, so 2018 also gains cap space.
You can use that money to resign Martin during 2017 season, like we did with TFred this year DURING the season
Why would anyone want to release him in 2016? His entire salary is guaranteed for the season.

Right, if we dont care about Romo.
Release him June 1 and free $15M for both 2017 and 2018, allowing us to solve most of the cap issues.

I don't think you were around back when the cap was the biggest topic of threads.

We've been through these issues in extreme detail in the past.

Keep in mind that you're not likely to tell Fuzzy anything about the cap that he does not already know.

No, I was not around.

I think it is less about rules of the cap rather than how to optimize the situation.
Our situation is pretty interesting because of the continual rise, the OL situation etc.
