Jaylon Smith on OBJ TD run

That is the link showing the play where you can see how Jaylon Smith was just casually trotting across the field before OBJ was running up the sideline and then and only then did he start running at full speed.

That is the kind of efforts being shown on the defense and Dallas needs to swap out these coasting veterans with younger players who, while they will make mistakes, will show much more hustle than players like Jaylon Smith.

That play, the face mask penalty, and the idiotic blocked extra point...he literally lost the game today.

To be honest I thought Aldon Smith had him for a loss when I saw the play in real time. And everybody else on defense went half speed thinking OBJ was hemmed in. Absolutely pathetic effort all around. Almost as bad as last December when they all watched Mitch Trubisky run into the endzone. (Sometimes my memory is a curse).

If you want to pick on LB on that play, watch Thomas. He has a shot at him and just literally runs right in front of OBJ and runs himself out of bounds. It was bizarre.

My goodness, how did we go from 2018 LB play to this?

It was like most of the Cowboys were worried about blocking their men out of the play and not tackling.

Jaylon thought the ball carrier was the guy that was tangled up with Thomas.

If you watch it frame by frame (slow motion) you can see Jaylon looking directly at Thomas when OBJ was still 5 yards back from that spot.

You can blame Jaylon for not having better vision but he was not being lazy.

Why are we picking on Jaylon Smith, game after game, thread after thread when at least 7-9 nine other players are playing just as bad. Yet many keep singling out Jaylon.......odd.

Yes, the other players suck, but given his pay and "flash," NO PLAYER on defense approaches the level of suck that Jaylon produces.

Even DLaw will make the occasional play, whereas Jaylon's always a day late and a dollar short.

IMO, there is no way Bernard or Gifford could be worse — that's how bad Jaylon has been.

It starts with the “we like our guys” philosophy. When guys know that they can perform like crap and never be replaced then you get this.
This, on top of trying to improve our defense by finding late round project guys and trying to make them starters is why we are where we are IMO

He needs to be benched.

make him think about it. Humiliate him and knock him down a peg. That’s their only chance.

Bill Parcells would have emasculated Jaylon by now. He would have bent him over on national TV and taken his manhood from him for playing like this.

Like when we were down 20 and Dlaw was celebrating a tackle. It makes me sick to see happy, celebratory players when they are getting their butts handed to them. I realize this is a league of grown men, but when does a coach tell them that is unacceptable? It shows you are more concerned about your own glory than that of the team. Its a selfish, unaware look.

I am not sure why but you don't see him playing with reckless abandon like he did in 2018. Yeh I know he got paid but there must be something else besides that. It's like night and day the way he plays now from 2018. He used to chase down everything and make some big hits/tackles but now he plays soft. Charmin soft.

I was told Mike McCarthy would fix all of that, it was a Jason Garrett problem and McCarthy would bench players that didn’t play well or hustle. Huh...

I said in another thread, he just runs around aimlessly and looks like a ping pong ball out there just bouncing around. He looks like he's high on sugar and caffeine like he drank a dozen Mountain Dews before the game. I am a ND guy and really hoped he'd come back from his injury but he needs to come off the field if he keeps playing like this (frankly, it's likely he will keep playing like this).

I'll tell what, he more of a leader than many fans gave him credit for.
Who’s the QB of Dallas’s defense? Who’s their leader? It just seems like when they go out there, there’s no one stepping up. They’re just there. Just my opinion, obviously don’t 100% know, but man, they need something

I don't know what everybody else was watching but I saw an outside linebacker come from across the field and very nearly catch OBJ from behind.....

Yes, Jaylon Smith nearly caught OBJ but he didn't because he only started running full speed when OBJ flew by him as before that he was trotting across the field.

Angles of pursuit. If the players in front of him cause him to cut inside, he is in the right place. They practice that. If they don't, then he turns on the jets. He played it right.

I rewatched it and I’m trying to see what you’re saying but I can’t see it. It still looks to me like Jaylon thought OBJ was going to get tackled and he just let up.
