Jaylon Smith on OBJ TD run

That is the link showing the play where you can see how Jaylon Smith was just casually trotting across the field before OBJ was running up the sideline and then and only then did he start running at full speed.

That is the kind of efforts being shown on the defense and Dallas needs to swap out these coasting veterans with younger players who, while they will make mistakes, will show much more hustle than players like Jaylon Smith.
Should have been a tackle for a 10 to 20 yard lost. Perfect call back the DC that was not executed.

I don't know what everybody else was watching but I saw an outside linebacker come from across the field and very nearly catch OBJ from behind.....

Well, I don’t want to be unfair here. This is a good point and Jaylon is not the biggest goat on this play for sure.

Smith played much better than this in 2018. So did LVE. Both regressed in 2019 and LVE got hurt. What the heck happened?
I feel like the biggest difference that I’ve seen was back in 2018, everyone one the defense would attack the football till the whistle.

Last couple of years, we’ve had so many missed tackles that would have not turned into big gains if everyone kept attacking the football.

it’s the worst when you see one of players miss a tackle, but it makes it even worse when you see other players just jogging to the ball carrier because they think the tackle is made. But that’s just one thing on top of all the other reasons haha

I completely agree, bench him and have him be a backup. Sign someone from the PS or vet minimum or whatever. Ifg we are going to be this bad on defense I would feel better if it was because the talent isn't there and not because of laziness or no hustle. Inexcusable. Bench him the rest of the year and bring up someone from PS. At least that person will appreciate the opportunity and try hard.

Oh it’s not his fault entirely, but he’s the WLB. He should lead the team in tackles weekly. Especially against a running team. Today he had two. Dlaw had three at DE![/QUOTE

If you look back at all NFL great defenses, they ALL had one them in common, unity. In other words, they played damn good as a team, hiding average players and/or covering each other's mistakes. We aren't seeing that with D. We're seeing a few individual players making plays here and there. How often you see 4-5-6 guys swarming to the ball? Don't get me wrong, I agree Jaylon and DLaw HAVE TO PLAY better but maybe what we're seeing is their TRUE CEILING, not what we saw during the contract year.

Jaylon is the new Jeff Heath. If you see him in the play anything bad that happens is his fault.

There's a lot more going on with this defense than just Jaylon Smith.

Maybe its because he plays just as bad as Heath.

If you want to pick on LB on that play, watch Thomas. He has a shot at him and just literally runs right in front of OBJ and runs himself out of bounds. It was bizarre.

My goodness, how did we go from 2018 LB play to this?
He actually blocked Jarvis Landry out of bounds and made no effort to tackle OBJ

Why are we picking on Jaylon Smith, game after game, thread after thread when at least 7-9 nine other players are playing just as bad. Yet many keep singling out Jaylon.......odd.

He’s the QB on defense. And definitely part of the problem. If you’re addressing the defensive unit, you’re addressing LB. it’s not very good. This isn’t all or nothing. It’s multiple issues on a terrible defense that need to be dealt with.

I’ve been doing this since his toe touched the turf. I’m consistent. The dude can’t play bro. We’re talking awful bad. We could put a wing chair in his place and it would get more stops than him!

Tackling a guy already on the ground by grabbing his facemask (which led to a TD)...one of several weekly examples of his unfathomable stupidity and uselessness. The guy is literally just a body out there. You could put any PS guy out there and get no worse results.

Jaylon is such a disappointment...it doesn't matter what scheme he is in. His knee just wrecked him and he is just another weak link to this already broken defensive chain. Its a bummer we have to deal with his contract.

aldon smith played it perfectly. he pushed OBJ 15 yards back...but where was the containment on that side. everyone was just casually jogging. being blocked...there is no hustle to this defense.
