They’re paying him that now, aren’t they? His 2020 salary is paid.
FRISCO, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys have released linebacker Jaylon Smith, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The move comes as a surprise because Smith has not missed a game in his career and the Cowboys are on the hook for his full $7.2 million base salary. The team had some trade discussions earlier in the season, according to sources, but a deal never came to fruition. By releasing Smith now, the Cowboys are free from the $9.2 million base salary in 2022 that was currently guaranteed only for injury.
Team owner and general manager Jerry Jones met with Smith on Tuesday to discuss the team's decision, according to a source.

Hollywood Henderson move, mugging for cameras when down more than 2 scores....that game was the epitome of his non self-awaremess ...Goodbye and good luck Jaylon.......
That’s a bit unfair. Jaylon was very good that year. Most of us wanted him re-signed. They did it too early but they wanted to get him for a bargain so they did it and failed. It was short lived but he could play in this league at one point.I want to say the same thing but this is the equivalent of setting fire to your own house and then wanting a pat on the back for putting it out. This front office not only spent a high 2nd rd pick on this bum, they extended him after one single fluke season with one year left on his rookie deal. The fact he was still on this roster this long was pathetic.

What year is it?
Awesome. Horses, chickens, pigs, goats?I currently have 32 head of cattle.....
No there saying he had surgery after the 2020 season ended which meant that his 2021 salary was protected from injury (basically fully guranteed because of the surgery/injury). The tweet was in response to people asking "if he's really this bad then why wasn't he either a post June 1st cut or cut after the draft"They’re paying him that now, aren’t they? His 2020 salary is paid.
But they sold a lot of jerseys. It's a really odd dynamic, isn't it? I credit them for admitting their mistake and moving on, but man oh man did they invest a whole lot into this mistake.
I did not understand why they did that with Dak. Never did get it.This has happened twice now with Jaylon and with Jerry.
Then they do the exact opposite strategy and wait until the last minute to extend Dak.
The Jones’ aren’t good at their jobs.
Some of the eagles media and eagles fans I follow on Twitter are already clamoring for Jaylon.
Please ohhhhhh please let it happen.
