I am crushed by this. Truly. I had hoped he would improve from his 2018 season...not decline.

I'm not crushed they cut him, I get that.

I'm crushed because I bought a signed jersey of his in 2018 and put it away...knowing he'd be in the HOF some day.

Now I've got a signed jersey with the wrong number and he isn't even a Cowboy any more.

Anyone want to buy a jersey?

Ironically, that may become a rare collectible item someday that Rick from Pawn Stars will need to have an expert look at. Hold onto it just in case.

Because its 4 games into this season and they could have kept him and cut him after the season to the same effect. He was abruptly fired from the team in a rare in-season move. There is obviously more of a story here.
How would this make sense though?

Option A: We keep him and keep playing him limited snaps and chance an injury and 9.2M next year.

Option B: You ice a healthy veteran for 13 games?

Neither option makes realistic sense. There are unspoken rules about icing a healthy player you plan on releasing anyways. You give the guy a chance to go play for another team. He doesn’t do you any good on IR and playing him risks an injury guarantee for 2022.

Releasing him now once you’re sure about who else you’ve got at LB is the only right move honestly.

I think this is only done now b/c of how well Jayron Kearse is playing.

The LB depth isn't exactly deep behind starters, but if you can play Kearse like a LB, especially once Donovan Wilson comes back, then Smith was definitely expendable.

Who will fill jaylons role of giving up on plays and doing celebrations after a play when dallas has already lost the game?

That doesn't explain the release.

yes I said kazee but meant Kearse. Think they want kearse at Lb and Wilson back safety.
