Jaylon Smith update......

Didn't care for his game prior to the injury. With it, not someone I'd waste a pick on until day 3. I'm fine with missing out on the next Marcus Lattimore. If he makes it, pick him up when he becomes a free agent. LBers rarely get tagged.

I think this report is after a re-check. The nerve isn't dead, it's just damaged and will heal on its own (per the article).

I am absolutely on board with taking Jaylon. He's the best defender in this draft if healthy.

Agreed. A few people felt he was the number 1 player in the draft

He's a gamble. The team that feels the best about his medicals will get him. Personally I'm not sure I touch him before the 6th. He could be a ten year pro bowler or never play a single snap. If the nerve wakes up he will be a player if it doesn't he will be cut before the rookie deal is out. You can't predict nerves that well unfortunately for him.

I think if it is protected to heal, he will likely go 3rd or 4th. Even at the LB, I don't see a potential generational player slipping farther

Agree. IF he checks out ok....he could go high 2nd IMO. Remember, this guy was a consensus top 5 pick before this injury. He's a helluva talent. Just might need some time to heal up. Somebody could get a deal of a lifetime, or a bust obviously. IF we were to trade down and acquire an additional 2nd rounder, I would't be against taking him if that nerve is heal-able down the road.

Didn't like his game before he got hurt?

Smith is a "beyond 2016" guy...depending on the rd 1 pick, I may take him in the 2nd to stash him for next year
