I knew something was up when Hendrick re-signed Kasey Kahne. They've got Nationwide Champion Chase Elliott waiting in the wings. One more year in that series and he's in the Cup series full time. You can only have 4 teams in the Cup series. You weren't going to get rid of Jimmie Johnson or Jeff Gordon. You weren't going to release Jr. either, he's too popular. That Kahne extension only made sense if Gordon was retiring. Otherwise you have no room for Elliott in 2016.
One of the all time greats. I was never a fan until recently. He was the actual champion in 2014. He had the most points under the traditional point system. Only the abortion that is the chase crowned Kevin Harvick as the fake champion (4th most points on the season).
