I thought she was great! I definitely loved her character.

René Auberjonois was another favorite.

I've always liked him even if I can't pronounce is name. :laugh1:

Too me DS9 took off when Worf joined the cast.

He was good, did you like Quark?

Quark and Rom were nice comic relief here and there. I can't say they were my favorites, but I didn't dislike them.

I can't say I found him annoying on Voyager, but take Neelix out of that series, and is he the annoying one?

Most definitely. I found The Doctor even more annoying than Neelix once they hit Seasons 6 and 7 and he was all "Me me me..."

I can agree with that. I did like the show though. Funny thing is, DS9 was extremely popular, and that is one ST show I didn't watch. Well, I didn't watch Enterprise much either. I think I saw probably the first two episodes and never watched it again after that.

As for DS9, the once or twice I did sit down and watched it, they came off more like soap operas than adventure shows. I've never been a big soap opera fan.

It's a shame you never watched DS9. I believe it is the best written. I'm not a fan of the Bajoran stuff either, but once they got into the Dominion War, it was beyond fantastic. No other Star Trek series did epic, big scale story arcs like DS9. It's available on NetFlix instawatch now.

I agree. That and when they got the Defiant is when it started to take off.

Here comes a nerd alert, I am not one of those people who knows every episode by heart.

Is this the episode where the woman was in the new quadrant and had some rare mineral or gem?

Yes. "Q-Less". The woman is Vash, and she got that thing from the Gamma Quadrant that ended up being some kind of living being. She was also Picard's ex-girlfriend.

See? You knew. You've earned your geek card.

Ya! And I agree with the Defiant as well. If only they had managed to wipe out all of the Kardashians.

We might need our own Star Trek thread. :D

We could boldly take that thread where no thread has gone before! :laugh2:

:signmast:

Every blue moon, I run into a Trek fan who did not watch Deep Space Nine from beginning to end. I always tell them to give it another chance for this exact reason and guarantee them that they will not be disappointed.

As you mentioned, DS9 is chock full of great writing. Sisko utters my most favorite line from the entire series before the final epic battle near the end of the War:

"There is an old saying... FORTUNE FAVORS THE BOLD. Well... I guess we're about to find out."

I'm not certain if Kate Mulgrew, William Shatner, Patrick Stewart or even (ha!) Scott Bakula could have delivered that line within the context of that moment as well as Avery Brooks.

She's at it again :)

I think it was this guy that always turned me off when I tried to watch DS9.

Yes, more Umox! Exactly right Cliff. You can never have too much Umox in a thread such as this.

That's too bad. You probably didn't stick around long enough to see him playing a huge part in saving the Alpha Quadrant. ;) :)
