The Eagles saved us from ourselves last year with the trade up to 10.

The Cowboys panicked, laughingly excused themselves from the war room camera so as to not appear confused and dumbfounded, and got bailed out by A) The Eagles desperately wanting to leapfrog the Giants for DeVonta Smith and B) the entire League not realizing Micah Parsons' good (amazing physical talent) greatly ouweighed his bad (attitude and coachability concerns). I was in this boat too. Loved the athlete, terrified of the kid.

But sure, Jerry's a top GM.

Nevermind the 27 years of ineptitude and the fact that he was "sick to his stomach" because he wasn't allowed to draft Johnny Manziel over Zack Martin.

The chart used appears to falloff at a slower rate than what you would actually expect. For instance, the #33 (1,228) and #34 (1,213) picks would apparently get you the #3 (2,443) overall pick. That seems like a pipe dream to me, but who knows. You have a chance at a franchise QB (and likely need one if you're picking #3) so there's no way the first 2 picks in the 2nd round are going to cut it.

Pick #84 (755) and #85 (749) will get you #19 overall (1508). Alternatively pick #52 (998) and #138 (503) will also get you #19 (1508). Would #138 and #139 (couple of mid-4ths) be worth #52?

I don't think those are realistic. A couple of later 3rd rounders isn't prying a Top 20 pick from me, and a mid-2nd and mid-4th isn't even worth answering the phone.

Even Mr. Irrelevant (absent compensatory) is worth 190. Would 10 Mr. Irrelevant picks be worth #36 (1,184)? Not a chance in hell because most (if not all) probably couldn't make the roster.

The chart seems to favor later picks more than teams actually do. Not that it matters, each team has their own chart and trading should be evaluated based on what you did with it, not what a chart says.

Lol I think I am probably a Dakazoid. I dislike Jerry immensely though. Forgive my Dakazoidness.
Sorry I can't forgive it . . its the Fanbase like you that encouraged Jerry to keep and that Fraud

Until they reached the playoffs.

Four guys on that defense had good years. Diggs, Brown, Kearse, and Parsons. But none of those guys play on the DLine full time. When the playoffs came around the DLine let us down... again. Romo could have won a SB if he had a defense.

It's almost as if they get one good pass rusher and think he's enough. Or they'll get one real big bodied DT and think that's enough. And it's been this way for years. Small DEs and small DT's can't stop the run if teams run it enough during a game. They break down.
Romo could have won a Super Bowl in 2014 if He wasn't cheated . . . and He could have won it in 2016 . . . and the fans could have witnessed it . . . instead we got Dak and Tad running everyone out of town. . . while we still wait for him to improve

I think the Cowboys have done a phenomenal job in the drafting process... I can get on board with him being top 10. They have drafted a lot of great talent. I can't knock Jerry on this.

The part that gets me is how they use that talent. They don't use it the way it's intended. Wonderboy Moore doesn't know how to scheme. Dan Quinn has done a great job on the Defensive side...

Free Agency is a complete different discussion. Stephen "Dumpster Diving Cheapo" Jones and Jerry should take a page out of the Patriots book. Contracts are meant for the future. If a rookie doesn't pan out, you don't sign them to a contract. If a FA doesn't work out, you don't sign them to an extended contract. Don't overpay and you can get some great players. Stephen and Jerry keep some of these players for far too long....

You're right. Some arbitrary, made up way to evaluate draft trades is more telling than actual wins and losses.

like most things here we look at analytically it is a directional indicator....in this case the fact that he comes out with more value on the trade downs is a good thing in terms of draft pick value - however it does not assign a value to the player picked with the resulting trade downs simply the draft position the net gain would align to.

jerry got more value in draft position, thats all i take away from this
