ALL OF IT IS BS. the cowboys have 23M in cap space and yet, Jerry and stephen said, they couldn't afford Henry. not that they think Zeke is good as him or almost as good, they couldn't afford henry.

Dallas had 10M on the cap in 2023. they have 23M available on the cap in 2024.

in terms of dead cap money, we are at 20M, which is 26th in the league. this tells me they hold on to their players until contracts run out. they are not making moves.

in terms of total cash spent, we are 14th, mostly because of CD and Dak contract, else we were in the 30th range.
some of the top 10 in cash spend include Philly, SF, Miami, Det, Houston, KC....coincedence?
we are 17th in cash spend at this point for 2025 (committed money).

in terms of combined AAV, we are 15th in the league.... again Philly, Detroit, SF, Buffalo, Miami, Houston, Min are all in top 10.

this is a badly mismanaged team, that doesn't know how to manage the cap. they are not interested in building a team. obvious they are not interested in FA. they are focused on maximizing profits. they don't care about winning a championship or building a champtionship team. I have heard all the people complaining about Dak's contract and now we have no cap to spend on anybody else!!!!....yet we have 23M available!!!!

we are 7th in cap allocation in 2025, with ability to open about 65M on the cap with a few restructures. but will they do it? probably not.

He's lying about the cap. So is Stephen.

I firmly believe they handle contracts now to make it seem like they are always up against the cap to make it seem like they are investing heavily in the roster. Jerry expects his fanbase to be ignorant. But unfortunately for him, there are some pretty smart fans and the salary cap isn't as complicated as he hopes his fans will believe.

Facts matter and in this case, we have data that shows how much he's really invested in his teams and that reality is the Cowboys are a bottom third team in terms of actual cash spent on their roster. They structure and manage contracts in a way that it makes it look like they are always fighting the cap but in reality, they invest way less actual money in their roster than other teams, including divisional peers like the Eagles.

So the next time Jerry cries about being cap poor, know he thinks we the fans are stupid and will buy his bull poop. He is quickly becoming a loathsome owner in the same class as some of the NFL's worst and most pompous owners.

Chuckles said they had to sign several players currently on the roster so they can't afford to sign free agents. I fully expect them to sign Parsons to a monster deal even though he hasn't earned it.
Wait, what would Parsons need to do to "earn" a massive deal?

He's one of the three best edge players in the NFL. That's really not all that debatable. He deserves to be paid that much. If we had a competent GM, they'd be able to build around cornerstone guys like Parsons but unfortunately our GM is an idiot.

Here is the part of the problem.

You don't pay players based on their previous performance. If they out played their previous contract that is a win for the team.

The next contract needs to be equivalent to what you think they can do moving forward and into future.

If you are going to pay a player more money moving forward because you feel like they were under paid in the past that is a horrible mistake.

We also can not over pay a CB because he benefited from Micah Parsons pash rush.

There are several here who are still buying his nonsense excuses.

Of course they will because he will hold them hostage until they pay up

And Parsons will likely be a dominant pass rusher well into his next contract.

So what’s your point?

Their stupidity lead to this. Years and years of moronic decisions. Then we get to watch them sit on their hands through free agency and then over value and overpay their own players. Then they make moves like Trey Lance. o_O Jerry on the phone without talking to his HC. Then overpaying a 3rd QB who has yet to step on the field while tying up a roster spot. There's no defending it or hoping it improves. This team is lost with them in charge.

If you believe that then pay him accordingly, but don't pay him because you think you owe him something.

Why pay Steele and Gallup big money coming off an ACL injury???

Why over pay Zeke when everyone knows RB's with that many carries can't keep playing at that level?

If/when Micah end this season with 6 sacks are you still going to believe that???

Don't listen to what Jerry says, watch what he does. Henry wasn't a cap issue, his cost was beyond what they are willing to spend in FA. Every year when free agency opens, they go on vacation. On occasion they'll trade for a few players a bit past their prime, but won't spend that much in FA.

Either Jerry or his sone said it this year. We believe in our process.

I'm beginning to wonder if the real reason why Henry wasn't signed is because Dak intervened and convinced Jerry to bring his BFF back. What if it was never about the money at all, but instead a promise Jerry made to Dak that he would bring Zeke back to the team.

Who knows the real reason, but maybe this idea isn't as farfetched as it sounds.

This. 3 years and 3 All Pro’s and DROY. 3 runner ups in DPOY. What a bum….

He’s injured and will miss games. Stands to reason his sack numbers will be lower.

He’s worth the next contract. If the Cowboys don’t want to pay him, someone else will and will get an elite pass rusher.

Stephen lies, Jerry may actually buy what Stephen is selling in this regard. I agree, that Stephen purposely handles contracts like this.

When you say “worth the next contract”, how much are you talking about? $32 million per season?
