It's like he's preparing you for another bargain basement offseason.
I’m torn on that though. If they restructure daks deal it probably means they are willing to be players to some extent in free agency or the trade market. If they don’t they’re going with another year of scraps, but eat some big cap numbers and open themselves up to endless possibilities for 2024, including even going after another qb if dak can’t perform down the stretch again.

My memory might be bad but I don't remember us being aggressive in free agency when Prescott was on his rookie contract
I agree they could have been more aggressive if they wanted to but they had the Romo deal that ran through 2019 ( don’t remember what cap hits each year looked like), traded/signed cooper to a big deal, caved to zekes demands, and locked up the Great Wall of Dallas during that time. Had Collins not had issues and Frederick not been forced into early retirement we may have a completely different conversation.

Not saying all those moves were right however they didn’t have a ton of excess cap space those years either

If the Cowboys would have paid Dak way back when they should have he would have only been what, $25-28M per year.

Imagine what they could do with an extra $20M in cap space right now.

We all knew that kicking the can of extending Dak down the road was a really bad decision. Now we are seeing exactly why and paying the price for Jerry's stupidity.

We are such or own enemies sometimes.

This is most likely irrelevant at this point. A couple years ago sure, but dak signed a 4 year deal so it would be time to renegotiate again anyways.
