This is actually an interesting question. I'm not into advertising or marketing but something tells me he does make money off this site but it's indirectly. In other words, if Reality closed this forum and opened a new Commander's board with the same members, would that not impact the Cowboy's value, ticket sales, and merchandise? Mannix posted he doesn't support Jerry in any way shape or form but he comes here coz he enjoy talking Cowboys. But it seems to me he IS supporting Jerry via this board. I looked up indirect marketing and here's what it says.....

My take....but it sure seems like Jerry "is" making money off this site.

This from AI

Indirect marketing is a marketing strategy that focuses on building brand awareness and relationships with potential customers, rather than directly selling a product or service. The goal is to nurture those relationships so that customers eventually buy from the brand.

Here are some examples of indirect marketing:
  • Search engine optimization (SEO): A method that helps websites appear in top search engine results for relevant queries. This makes content more discoverable to a larger audience.

  • Building trust: Indirect marketing focuses on gaining the trust of potential customers.
I understand what you are saying, but this is still a private site with advertisements that have nothing to do with Jerry Jones or the Dallas Cowboys. I'm only speculating on that part because I'm using an AD blocker while we still can. The only way Jerry could 'indirectly' make money off of CZ would be for members to say that CZ (advertisements or otherwise) influenced their decision to purchase gear or game tickets. I really don't think that anything read on CZ or seen in an advertisement is going to persuade a member to do any of those things.

I imagine a majority of CZ members don't live within 500 miles of AT&T stadium and their status as members isn't going to cause them to rush out and purchase tickets. Fans of the team are going to buy merchandise and game tickets regardless.

Of the 100,000 people filling the stadium tomorrow for the final game of the season, how many do you think are active CZ members? My guess would be less than 20, and of those 20 members none of them will say they went to the game solely because they are CZ members or were influenced to go because of something they read here.

So yes, I can understand how the perception can be made that we are 'indirectly' putting money into Jerry's pockets, but most of the members here will never physically (or willingly) put a single cent into his wrinkled paws. I've been a member of CZ for 13 years and the site has never influenced me to want to go to a game and I live 15 minutes away from the stadium. Gear wise, I have purchased 1 ball cap in the past 25 plus years, and it was one of the 'Salute to the service' hats that I liked. The purchase had nothing to do with my CZ membership.

Honestly.... the only fired coach press conference I remember was Jimmy Johnson, although they tried to put on a good face for it. One of those "I remember where I was when..." moments. I remember the Landry firing because it was such a huge event in Dallas. And remember the Jimmy firing because the team had redeemed itself letting go of Landry and built a powerhouse again, and Jethro just let it fly away. Been a highly frustrating 30 years as a fan.

Cowboys fans would still be doing what we do whether CZ existed or not. I don't know when this site officially launched, but fans managed just fine and got their news from other sources long before CZ became a thing.

LOL....I see what you are saying, but as long as you are a "member" and/or "fan" you add value to the brand. Therefore he makes money........ It doesn't matter if it is 1 or 100K.
For example......millions are X users don't spend a dime directly on the site but are still putting money in Musk's pocket via viewership. Viewership attracts advertisers......I have been a member of X/Twitter for over 12 years and never paid Musk or the previous owner $1 DIRECTLY but my membership is part of the machine that builds its value.

Here are some viewership values for X (formerly Twitter):
  • Unique visitors: X has about 907.1 million unique visitors per month.

  • Daily active users: X has around 300 million daily active users.

  • Monthly active users: X has over 500 million monthly active users.

  • Average daily usage: X users spend an average of 34.1 minutes on the platform daily.

  • View counts: A view is counted for any logged-in user who views a post, regardless of where they see it or if they follow the author. Embedded posts do not count towards view counts.

Source of revenue....
X (formerly Twitter) primarily makes money through advertising, which is the main source of its revenue, with most of its income coming from displaying ads to users on the platform, including promoted tweets that appear in timelines; they also generate revenue through a subscription service called "X Blue" which offers additional features for a monthly fee, and to a lesser extent, through sponsored content and influencer marketing opportunities for creators on the platform

Damn! I'm impressed....seriously, I've educated myself in finance and economics....I hold several certifications as a realtor, financial advisor, insurance.....I use them mostly for my own stuff and provide free services for family and friends....don't charge them commissions and make sure they get a great deal. It's fascinating stuff, numbers are cool, being number 1 is the best!

Good writeup, but using X isn't a good example since Musk owns the site. Jerry doesn't own or have any affiliation whatsoever with CZ.

Ref the bolded red part you said - with Musk being the owner of the site, all advertisement income obviously goes directly into his pocket. That isn't the case with CZ as the owners of the site collect any income coming from their advertisements. Jerry doesn't get a single cent from CZ advertisements.

People need to Boycott this organization!
That is the only thing Jerry understands. As long as people buy into his crap things will never change. Fans continue to reward bad behavior!
Totally correct. I stopped buying anything Cowboys six years ago. Wish I had done it earlier. I don’t even watch the games on TV. Why waste time on an underperforming product. Makes one feel like they are being taken for a long ride down the primatone path.
