Yes, this entire off season has been a decoy. GM Jethro is pretending to be senile, and we will see his true mastermind over the next week or so.

Nothing crystalized that more than the whole Murray/Elliott saga. When Murray was a FA, Jerry and Stephen made sure people understood that their "analysis" showed that you should not overpay for RBs, that their research showed RBs decline faster than any other position and therefore, they weren't willing to go as high as Murray wanted.

Then the next season they go 4-12 and they panic (and let's note it really wasn't a lack of a TB that caused them to go 4-12, the QB got hurt and backups sucked) and use the 4th pick on a TB and then a few years later suddenly decide that RBs are worth the investment and don't break down as much and therefore we need to make Elliott the highest paid RB in NFL history.

These guys have no real belief system in terms of building a roster. They just collect players and resign the ones they like regardless if it makes sense for their team or how the league is operating at that point. That's it. That's their "plan".

If they hadn;t used him as an offensive lineman so much that deal just might have worked.
