Name a source and hold someone accountable.

It may be true. It may not be true. But without a source of any kind than it is nothing but a rumor.

You have the real world and how it works nailed down, don't ya?

If this is true, I don't know if it is and frankly don't care either way, but if this is true that Stephen is becoming more and more vocal, and helping make more and more decisions, then I'm all for it. I like him and I do think he gives us a very bright future.

It isn't sad. It would be sad if we were going from a George Halas to a Mike McCaskey. A Paul Brown to a Mike Brown.

All indications are the son is a better football man than his Dad. Nothing sad about that at all.

Stephen has spent the bulk of his adult life in professional football and is one of the most respected cap managers in the game. He is far and away a better "football" guy than Jerry ever was and will be an outstanding GM. I am really looking forward to when Jerry names his son to that position and steps back from the day-to-day running of the team.

We have already seen a vast improvement in the handling of personnel this offseason from who we let go of, who we kept, who we drafted, who we signed, and who we didn't go after. There were no big name splashes in FA, no moves up for reaches in the draft, no crazy contracts for aging veterans, and no headcases!

All of the major distractions were eliminated this offseason from Owens & Pacman to Hard Knocks and the media circus that came with them. We have also gotten rid of the complainers, the primadonnas, the criminals, the egos, the thugs, and the attention ****** and have brought in solid football players who will put the TEAM first. IMO we are well on our way to winning a championship this season if we can stay healthy.

There are still a few malingerers and guys who have yet to live up to their hype/potential but they aren't starters and will not last past this season if they even make the roster this year. Another offseason like this one and we will have the best team in the league, but that's just my opinion.

All the pieces are in place for the Cowboys to become a dynasty again but it will require that "Daddy" stays out of it and allows his son to run things. Jerry had his run but it ran out in 1996 or so. Since then he has been trying desperately to make this thing work HIS WAY but it hasn't and for 13 seasons we haven't had success in the playoffs.

All that is about to end and a new Dallas Cowboys dynasty is about to begin!

Pacman may have poor judgment but his athletic talent is extreme. He is as undisciplined as much as his poor judgment is evident. If he would settle down and let them coach him there is currently no one in the league with his talent. I'm talking about athletic talent and not talent as a CB. He's an above average CB but his undisciplined ways make him as much a vunerability as an asset. It's a lot of bang and bust for Adam. Too bad.

Pacman is the best athlete in the NFL?

First of all his NFL career is over.

Secondly, guys like Newman, Ware, and Felix are way more athletic.

League wide, forget it. Both Cromarties, Sproles, Calvin & Andre Johnson, Fitz, Peterson, Buehler, Nmandi, Willis, Adrian Wilson,

Yea heard that on the Irvin show. The son is smarter than the dad. Sad.
Saying that Stephen is "smarter" than his dad is really shallow. You don't make a couple of billion dollars by being stupid. It's not that Jerry's not smart, it's that he is a risk taker. He loves gambling on the chance of a big return. Stephen is not that kind of risk taker; he prefers low risk but more certain returns. Ken Hamlin was a great low investment, high risk, high return kind of decision. Pacman is, too. It's just that Hamlin worked out and Pacman didn't. The problem is that with a 53 man roster, there is not much room for complete busts. It's not essential that every member be a star but each must be able to make a contribution. Stephen is oriented to the "avoid mistakes" approach and Jerry to the "home run'' approach. Jerry has believed in the "winning with your stars" approach which is understandable since that is how he won 3 Super Bowls. The salary cap and 53 man roster have undermined that approach. There is only so much money and what is spent on stars can't be spent on depth. What New England has shown is that a focus on depth can offset a lack of stars. In other words having "good" players at every position is more important than having super stars at a few but average/below average players at others. Teams exploit weaknesses and to the Patriots, avoiding weaknesses is more important than having positions of overwhelming strength. With no cap and a larger roster, Jerry's way works better: with the cap and roster limitations, it appears Stephen's approach of avoiding errors works better. That, however, doesn't make him "smarter" than Jerry, just a different personality. BTW, under New England's approach, the Cowboys wouldn't have resigned players like Emmit Smith or Marion Barber to big contracts which would have made a lot of Cowboys fans really unhappy.

Jerry had the good sense to hire Jimmy Johnson and we only know about Stephen because he has had the good sense to allow Stephen an increasing role in the mangement of the team. Give JJ some credit. He won three Super Bowls using his approach but he has learned that a different approach is needed in the cap era and is now increasingly deferring to Stephen and others. We should be a little more apppreciative of JJ's willingess to change.

Nobody ever said Jerry wasnt a great owner or brilliant business man, that is not in dispute. Jerry like everybody has his limitations, one of which is, he aint a football guy. That has been what has held this team back for over a decade. More Stephen and less Jerry in football operations would be a good thing.
