Same old Cowboys? When was the last time they took on over $50 million in contracts on the first day of legal tampering in free agency?

I bash Jerry as much as anyone but today was different. Not hard to see that unless you choose not to look.

This is after they completely revamped DT last season.

Ya, no. This approach is different than what we've seen in the past.

They still need to add another pass rusher and a couple Linebackers. They have two first round picks to work with, and from what I understand, they're not done spending in free agency.

Serious question: what approach would satisfy you more than the approach that they've taken the last couple years?

Over the last 9 years the Cowboys have spent the least amount of $ per player per season in the NFL ($3.5m) despite making the most revenue ($1.2b)and having the largest operating income ($630m) in the NFL. These are the facts and they are not disputable. Unfortunately a decent safety and a ln edge who’s never had double digit sacks in a season doesn’t move the needle. Jerry continues to be the worst GM in the league.

I can't be mad at not landing Crosby. The extra 1st round pick was just too much to give up. No way I would condone giving up two 1st round picks for him.

Losing out on Dean and Quay Walker stinks but that had more to do with former college teammates probably wanting to play football together again. Can't blame the FO for that.

I do hope that they have alternate plans to improve the LB corp. Whether it is via trade or FA. They need a green dot ILB who can play in Christian Parker's scheme. It may be pricey and not what they initially wanted to do, but I'd be happy if they go hard after D. Lloyd. Pricey but needed.

I am critical of the FO and am an extremely jaded fan. But, this is day one of FA. Let's see how things play out.

I’m sure as heck no fan of how this team has been run for 3 decades, but with all due respect, this is just moronic. it’s not the teams fault you have no idea who Thompson is or how good he is and if they gave up everything necessary to trade for him and also had to pay Maxx or gave Hendrickson almost $40M per year for 2 years it would have been a mistake. We still have pick #12 and 20. That might be 4 new starters on one side of the ball. Plus we supposedly were in on Dean and are looking LBer.

How much more can you do in one off-season when you also tagged the top free agent in the NFL. whining on a day when we finally spent some money on good outside free agents is kind of bizarre

We’ve seen teams win, blow it up, and win again while we keep penny pinching and building. Chasing dynasty’s when priority one should do what dynasty’s need to do… win the first damn one which is tough when you haven’t even made the conference championship game in 30 years
