Jerry being Jerry

Same old Dallas, same old Jerry Jones, same old story! Everyone knows how bad the Cowboys need linebackers and pass rushers. One mid pass, rusher, and almost getting Max, and almost getting Dean, and not making up their mind in time about Walker proves that nothing has changed. Thompson isn’t Dollar General, but he’s more like Ross or TJ Maxx.

Every year, it’s the same old dang story. Today proves Jerry is not willing to sign a check to win anything! If he can’t beat the Raiders at getting Dean, and can’t beat the ravens at getting Crosby he flat out doesn’t care about winning.

We are all the same foolish cowboy fans as we are every year.
Wow.

Then maybe the owner shouldn’t gas the fan base up and talk about busting the budget.
The owner suckered in his allotted amount of fans, and now they want to defend 1 FA signing and proclaim that Jerry backed up his word. If our owner just shut his mouth and went about his business, I would think most fans would be happy thus far. The problem is, he yet again had diarrhea of the mouth as we move on to his favourite time of FA (the leftovers). If we miss out on the few decent players left on the board, what will be said? Will be interesting to see what happens the next two days

“All in” Break the Budget “. The Joneses even gave the YouTubers some of the budget to say things have changed.

Old enough to watch him bring in Prime and get Hailey and brag about it. Old enough to remember how you win in this league. Old enough to remember when Jerry wanted something, he used to get it. Old enough to know he’s taken $$$$$$$$$$$$$ from our family for 31 years and never provided what his customers want most!
I guess you see what you want to see.

Like I’ve told you, ALWAYS whining.

Big picture wise, I dont think the OP is that far off.

I mean after experiencing the likes of Kenneth Murray and Jack Sanborn as high volume/starter linebackers and Kair Elam as a high volume/starter type corner its not hard to see improvement from that crap to this year's haul so far. BUT thats an awful low bar as has been usual for the Cowboys over the past several years.

I think in the net scheme of things Gary is hopefully an equivalent to what Clowney gave last year. No more no less.

I am not familiar enough with Thompson to say how much of an improvement over Wilson he will be but I am assuming it will be Hooker and Thompson on the last line together. Wilson has definitely lost a couple of steps to his game so I hope Thompson is a step up in that regard.

They could have let Williams go. He was an inconsistent, low football IQ, 2nd rd bust with too many on field penalties to justify keeping imo.

Steele?
Come on man.

I forget anybody?

Today was a pretty good day for our Cowboys. Long, long way to go in this off-season. But today was a good one.
The real key is those 2 first rnd picks. What we did so far makes it easier not to reach to fill a position. Just get 2 realky good players. That’s gonna be really what determines this off season. I’m fairly happy with first day

What I am saying is I wish we had a GM that would just shut up and do his job.

This team had the worst defense in franchise history and they have trade for Gary and signed Thompson. After he claimed he was going to bust the budget.

You want to defend him go ahead. Enjoy that safety when there is scrubs playing LB
I typically attack Jerry as much or more than anyone. I had low expectations, which I broke down with numbers several times. I detailed out what break the budget meant.

I had known all along thst the teams situation was worse than most were wiling to believe. Perhaps you bought into the irresponsible chatter on the board that Jerry had some kind of infinite money glitch and our cap was just fine

So, I level set expectations around our max cap spend.

And … they are going to “bust the budget”, but that doesn’t mean they have magical powers.

In LBs yes. And apparently they did also. I mean since they tried to get all these guys. Just, lost out, or didn’t really try.

First, I have WSU season tix, I watched almost every game of his college career. Next we’ve been talking about Thompson off and on for a few years on this board because I wanted him back then too. He’s decent, but he’s still a mid level signing. I’m hoping with CP, he turns great.

“Supposedly” we were in on Max, Trey, Dean, and Quay Walker too. But somehow always fall short. Why? You’re either willing to “break the bank” or you’re not.
He is a better player than Dean and Walker and less than half the price of Trey and less than half the plus of Maxx and wouldn’t cost the two first rounders.

This team needs players at all 3 levels of defense

What theyre doing right now is great…plus it hasnt even been a full 48 hours

Usually by this time we’ve signed no one
