With Jerry coming out and saying Romo will retire a Cowboy. I could see Jerry giving Romo a 6-7 yr deal. Giving Romo alot of money but prprated at a lower cost due to the amount of yrs. 27-30 Mil SB With some Roster bonuses in there im sure keeping base salaries in check too. i could see a 6-7 yr 80-85 mil deal. With the last two yrs having higher base salaries he probably wont get. But reward him if he's still playing at a high level with them roster bonuses. Something to work for. I could see Romo replaced when hes about 36-37 yrs old

lol. If Dallas wanted to groom a QB. I wouldnt hate Barkley. Theres no doubt these QBs from USC are talented. But none of them were able to develope. Teams threw them into the fire. If Barkley gets drafted by a team who is going to do the same, He will fail

Can't say I have a good feeling about him.
So-so arm, so-so size, not a great athlete.
Is he maybe extremely accurate or something?

Theres not a QB in this draft that I like, not even a little bit.

Dallas should wait until next season to get one to groom IMO.

So another 6-7 years of 8-8 football. Forgive me if I don't jump for joy if that happens.

Yeah. If they drop him they can string together some 3-13s and get some better draft picks. Maybe speed up the healing process. :)

I do think no way they sign him for 6-7 years. That would be silly

I could live with that. I would love to see that USC kid here but this year, to manys priorities. So next year it would half to be like a blockbuster deal to get the merchandise worthy JOHNNY MANZIEL who would love to cash in and be the futture of the Cowboys.

You mens here agree, yes?:)

Dallas has made it known that they would like extend Romo’s contract. But their interest in lengthening Romo’s deal isn’t based solely on the financial considerations and the salary cap constraints they’re facing at the present time.

“We believe he is the guy going forward, first and foremost,” Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said earlier this week at the NFL scouting combine. “We just believe we can win a championship with him.”

Jones said, in part, it has been “happenstance” that they haven’t taken more quarterbacks in the draft. But he also says the organization has long believed in relying on veterans, especially ones who can serve in the backup role.

“I could not imagine we wouldn’t take a quarterback if the right guy were there,” he said. “I can’t certainly see us using a first-round pick or a second-round pick on one but after that, depending on who might be there, I wouldn’t rule it out.”

Although I want a qb drafted, I tend to agree. Wait until there is one worth picking.

Because of our salary cap situation I kind of agree with Latin Mind. I can see Romo getting a 5 or 6 year deal. That said, I really hope the Cowboys exercise a little foresight and start exploring other QB options in either this year's or next year's draft.

I'm in the group that would like to move on from Romo particularly if Jerry is intent on allowing the Red-headed Genius to hang around. Garrett is not the kind of coach that Romo needs.

I certainly wouldn't force the issue this year but I wouldn't mind seeing them take a stab at a late round project.

The problem isn't waiting. The problem is if you resign Romo now, then you aren't waiting till next year. You are waiting AT LEAST 3 years, before you even start thinking about the position again.

Jerry has made it clear they don't want Romo to play on a one year deal, so it looks like we've already called our shot - so to speak.

Jerry may be a lot of things, but he's not disloyal. He's not going to talk up Romo like this and then draft a QB anyway. He probably doesn't even want to risk hurting Romo's feelings in that way.

I don't think Jerry understands yet how much damage that interception in Washington did to Romo among the fanbase. If he really plays even five extra years, it wouldn't surprise me to eventually see the stadium 60-70 percent full.

I don't want a project. I want a tail-kicking top five draft choice, like a real team would do.

I'm shocked that it didn't actually do more damage. It's pretty much been the same group of perpetually-dissatisfied over here who've had much to say about it this off season, so far. And the vast majority of the fan base is in favor of upgrading offensive positions around Romo to address some of the shortcomings. All-in-all, I think Romo's in pretty high regard by most Cowboy fans.

And I'd be shocked to see Cowboys Stadium 60% full. That's not going to ever happen.

Yeah, all those 5-11 seasons we went through before Romo were so much better. Carter, Hutchinson, Vinny and Bledsoe. Ahhh...those were the days.
