Jerry fixed NOTHING this offseason. I question his desire to win.

Jerry's $olution: promote a cheap guy who was the backup to two failed kickers. Results? Two game-tying kicks missed already.

Jerry's solution: promote a cheap bench guy who has never showed all that much. Alan Ball is a small guy, but he was supposed to be an upgrade in coverage. True? No. We got beat deep repeatedly on Sunday and some of that was on Ball. Look for teams to target him more as the season progresses.

O-line quality and depth.
Jerry's solution: Draft wow guys at other positions until the late rounds. Do nothing in free agency. Make no meaningful trades.

Mental mistakes and penalties.
Jerry's $olution: HOF game, which costs us Phillips. Two venue$ for camp, important practices in front of stadium audience$, players getting pulled away for autographs. Jerry $aves more money by trading away a reliable receiver who knows his job.

The definition of insanity is to do the same thing and expect a different result. Our GM's actions this offseason have been in$ane. He shored up none of our weaknesses. But worse: He's far more interested in being a celebrity, tending to his profit margin and enjoying his billionaire life$tyle than he is in taking the necessary steps to win. I challenge anyone to name a GM/part-time head coach spends less time and attention on his job!

He's like the person who says he really wants to lose weight...but takes none of the necessary nutritional steps and refuses to exercise.

Jerry's real deal is revving the marketing machine, making money from every possible angle, and this offseason at least----shaving $20+ million in contracts.

Don't worry, Jerry will quickly come to realize that people in Dallas are the absolute most fickle fans in the United States. If the team isn't winning, don't expect to see a full stadium. They might still "sell out" the game, but nobody will show up to watch a 6 win team.

The real point of my post is that it's easy for fans to pick players and call them out on their actions. We don't know the exact detailed rumors of a future CBA, although the team has a much better idea than we do. It's easy for us to say we did nothing, but the reality is we have no idea what implications there would be if we shelled out huge contracts. We are just fans. If we were 2-0 (which you could argue we are exactly 4 plays away from being 2-0) this thread would be laughed at by everyone that read it. It's easy to complain NOW about it. Just a month ago you were posting single post mini-series on the Boys. Now your blogs just speak of our doom and gloom. To coin Skip Bayless: "Your being a victim of the moment".

I have never questioned JJ's desire to win....I think that he probably wants to win more than any other Owner in the league....however, this off-seasons LACK of moves really confused me....the Superbowl is in HIS house that cost over a BILLION dollars to make.....wouldn't he WANT his team in the game?

The only thing that I can think of is that he thought this team was good to go.....he's said repeatedly how he likes the continuity of the coaching staff which he thought was important.....I think the same could go for his reasoning about the team.

I don't think for one moment that he thought, or any of us thought, that we would be 0-2 right now.

But being so lax on the kicking and o-line situation was VERY disconcerting to me this off-season.

The kicker being more disconcerting since so many games are decided by 3 or fewer points....Monday night for an example....shoot, you can look at each of our first two games and what missing kicks can do to you.

I've been all over the o-line situation for years....I still maintain that the lines are the most important part of the team.

Not sure i fit the blind homer because i am a very negative person by nature. But i think all your points are completely wrong. At least in some respects.

Kicker-We didnt want to spend two roster spots on kickers. Makes sense.
Safety-Ball played well last year, who else was worth the money?
O-Line-Lost two starters to injuries. Dez was there, couldnt pass him up. They wanted to address O-line, opportunity wasnt there.
Mistakes and penalties-Blaming it on players having to sign autographs? Yea, once again you are grasping for anything. Not sure why you keep doing this.

And those calling others homers after 2 games? Really? You are ready to throw away the season after 2 games? Big deal you are able to think negative. Not that hard. I don't need to talk to Jerry. All I'd get is his sales pitch. Actions speak louder than words.

Lots of people would love to play the piano or guitar but don't want to put the work in. Desire is measured by ACTION.

Lots of people would love to play GM, but can't get hired. Jerry is one of those guys...but he got around the problem by buying a team and making himself GM.
