Jerry fixed NOTHING this offseason. I question his desire to win.

I said that HOMER fans failed by not holding Jerry's feet to the fire. If there would have been an uproar, he might have acted. That was the whole point of that thread, from beginning to end.

That is debatable, let's have a 4-part series from you about it. You can post the title like usual, and then do your standard format of posting 5 sentences at a time to keep us on our toes.

It's not desire that Jerry Lacks...it's ability.

It's both.

If Jerry wanted the Cowboys to win more than anything else...he'd fire himself from GM.

But his ego and desire to play football guru is right up there w/his quest for money.

Would you care to point out a few times in history when an accomplished high level executive with success under their belt fired themselves?

Kicker-We didnt want to spend two roster spots on kickers. Makes sense.
No it never made sense and I ranted from day 1: You don't get clever with a kicker. The NFL is filled with games where the kicker wins or loses the game.

O-Line-Lost two starters to injuries. Dez was there, couldnt pass him up. They wanted to address O-line, opportunity wasnt there.
Then get somebody in round 2..or trade down a tad an get two.

Mistakes and penalties-Blaming it on players having to sign autographs? Yea, once again you are grasping for anything. Not sure why you keep doing this.
You failed to hear about Jerry pulling players away from practice last week to chat with Jones celebrity friends and sign autographs?

Jerry's income is in no-way contingent on his being GM. So your logic, once more, is fatally flawed.

That doesn't answer his question. Then again, you're expert at that.

I have never questioned JJ's desire to win....I think that he probably wants to win more than any other Owner in the league....however, this off-seasons LACK of moves really confused me....the Superbowl is in HIS house that cost over a BILLION dollars to make.....wouldn't he WANT his team in the game?

Jerry wants to win in the same fashion that lazy people want to be a dancer or movie star. They might want it, but they REFUSE to take the required steps.

I've been all over the o-line situation for years....I still maintain that the lines are the most important part of the team.

I don't know about most important, but they certainly aren't dirt...and that's how Jones seems to view it.

Jerry has tried every avenue. None have worked. I don’t blame him. Tried to save a roster spot. You saw how hard it was for us to drop down on cut day.

Been there, done that. We have had better success drafting them in later rounds or getting as free agents. Besides, you draft for value, not need.

Who cares? I don’t.

I don’t care. You throw tons of crap on the wall every week. You blame Cowboy fans for every loss which is ridiculous. Your opinion is so off base i can’t take it serious. Sorry.

So tell me how many times have you talk to Jerry Jones to arrived at that statement... My guess NONE.... I don't think there is a owner that wants to win any more thaan Jerry, he doing all he can,
That's funny, I didn;t see him miss a tackle or miss a block, I must have missed him when he drop a pass, and the holding by the OL has to be Jerry fault, can't he block better than that..
dumb post..

more and more people are starting to get it, a few years ago there were only a few people who understood, now there are more, soon we will be many and one day even people like alsmith here will understand.

The o-line....they can make the best QB/RB/WR look like Just Another Guy if the blocking isn't there. There isn't a player in the NFL that would disagree with that.

They ARE the glue that keeps a team winning....they just don't get the publicity or the glory because they dont "score" the points.....but if they don't protect, either do the "glory" guys....at least not on the level that the "best" normally do.

Kicker.
Jerry's $olution: promote a cheap guy who was the backup to two failed kickers. Results? Two game-tying kicks missed already.

Safety.
Jerry's solution: promote a cheap bench guy who has never showed all that much. Alan Ball is a small guy, but he was supposed to be an upgrade in coverage. True? No. We got beat deep repeatedly on Sunday and some of that was on Ball. Look for teams to target him more as the season progresses.

O-line quality and depth.
Jerry's solution: Draft wow guys at other positions until the late rounds. Do nothing in free agency. Make no meaningful trades.

Mental mistakes and penalties.
Jerry's $olution: HOF game, which costs us Phillips. Two venue$ for camp, important practices in front of stadium audience$, players getting pulled away for autographs. Jerry $aves more money by trading away a reliable receiver who knows his job.

The definition of insanity is to do the same thing and expect a different result. Our GM's actions this offseason have been in$ane. He shored up none of our weaknesses. But worse: He's far more interested in being a celebrity, tending to his profit margin and enjoying his billionaire life$tyle than he is in taking the necessary steps to win. I challenge anyone to name a GM/part-time head coach spends less time and attention on his job!

How would you know how many hours Jerry or any other coach/GM or whatever you'd call it works? You have no idea. Pure shot in the dark.

Topic 1: "Kicker $olution"
: Would you have preferred us to use 2 roster spots and spend money on Shayne Graham who missed 2 easy FG's in the playoffs and lost his job bc of it? What about Matt Stover who also lost his job due to kicking struggles. What about Kris Brown who has never made a clutch kick in his career? Who?

Topic 2: Safety. Which player would you have liked us to draft over Dez bryant? Would have liked Earl Thomas,Nate Allen, or Eric Berry? They were all gone before we even had a chance. So is this b/c you wanted Taylor Mays or Morgan Burnett? I doubt it. Did you want us to sign Antrell Rolle for huge money even though we have no clue what the CBA will bring? He has never been an elite safety yet he was looking for top dollar. What about Darren Sharper? He isn't even playing so if we spent big money on him we'd probably be in the same spot either way.

Topic 3: O-Line. You claim we never take O-Linemen until the later rounds. Go ahead and check out some good O-lines and tell me how many top rounders each team has. Check out the Colts:

Diem 4th rounder
Saturday-Undrafted
J.Richard- 7th round
Johnson-6th round
Pollak-2nd.

They spent one first day pick on their entire OL. Check out the Saints OL. There are several teams that use the OL late in the draft format. The issue with us is missing on WHO we draft, not WHERE we draft them.

I'm not going to sit here and say Jerry doesn't need to learn his place, but the accusations people throw out on here are just crazy.

If nothing else, Jerry drafted a future pro bowler wr w/ our #1 pick. I'll give him that.:)

GMs in the NFL work crazy hours...50, 60, 80.

Jerry is spending at least half his time working on deals with Ford and Pepsi, pitching boxing fights, etc.

And at the age of 67 Jerry is rarely, if ever, up til 2am...or getting up at 5 to put the time in.

On top of this...if you think a billionaire doesn't take a ton of time away from work you are certified nuts

These things I KNOW.

I DO KNOW THIS.

And you know this how? How many days have you spent around him? How many days have you worked for ANY NFL organization to know the typical hours that are being put in.

I heard Jerrah is hurting for money. Maybe that's the reason. Let's all pitch in and help him out for a new shiny OLinemen.

Maybe. But Broaddus in the latest installment said "There wasn't a whole lot of studying going on" with Dez during offseason/camp.

And Broaddus says Dez often shows that he has little knowledge of his assignments during the games.

The Jones culture spreads into the locker room.

The team may have its problems but to questions jerrys will to win is the most outragous thing I've ever heard.....this guy not to long ago was down on the field cheering on his players. Oh how you forget that he was the one getting all the gripes about being "to involved".

I'll tell you right now there is no way Jerry puts the hours or the same effort into being GM that other GMs do. I can not prove that it poorly effects the team, but Jerry is incredibly busy with so many things, it would be impossible for him to spend the same amount of time others do.

I'll take a different approach and say that Jerry is selfish. He's putting his ego in front of the team's success just so the world thinks he's this briliant GM.

1 question for Jerry. If he'd hired a guy 14 years ago to be the GM of the Dallas Cowboys, and that GM made all these decisions - Galloway Trade, Missed on Randy Moss in the draft, Chan Gailey, those 3 horrible QBs and all 3 were X baseball players, bad kickers, no O linemen, Owens in, Roy Williams contract, one play off victory in all those years, and now an 0-2 start.

EDIT: LET ME ADD THIS, hires only 1 GREAT coach in all those years, and can't get good coaching in because he refuses to allow the coach to coach and be in control over his own team, and COACHES, so we continually end up with sub par coaches.

My question is, how long would that guy have been around? Do us all a favor Jerry, fire yourself.

Wow....

There is a reason Jerry is considered a Model Owner and GM... And I cant say if I was Jerry I wouldn't do the same. I would have a staff of people to help me make decisions regarding the team and scouts and god nows what else so I don't have to do all the leg work. Just make the crucial decisions, after all I am a billionaire for a reason not to mention I would have 20+ years running one of the most successful franchises in history.

Ill take that on my resume any day. Hindsight is 20/20, we don't always see why Jerry does things but maybe thats because he is smarter and more successful then the people on a forum talking about things he ACTUALLY does.

IMHO Jerry is not perfect nor will he ever be, but I as a fan am honored to have him own the team I am an eternal fan of. I may not agree with him all the time but then again I don't see the world as he does.
