Cowboys' Jerry Jones not looking to fire Jason Garrett: 'I haven't come close to that type of consideration.

Looks like Jerry likes his man. Short of empty seats I see Jason coming back next year.

Why didn’t you extend him then jerry
Really good point.
If he truly thinks JG is the guy, then why wait?
Reasons for having not extended his contract already:
1. Jerry has given Jason a guarantee of an extension, but the total amount is based on W-L ratio and post season successes (this year/this year + the last few.)
2. Jerry will kick him to the curb after the season if they don't get an NFCCG or better.
3. Jerry is close to dumping him and needs to get his ducks in a row first
4. He gave him his yacht instead but wants to party on it a bit longer first.

If the Cowboys fired Jerry the GM, who would hire him for that role?

Therein lies the answer.

If you meant who would hire Jerry as their GM, the correct answer is nobody.

Since there's nobody who can fire Jerry, it's a moot point. Yes, it's a problem! ;)

this is all fluff and puff for the ears of players and media..he has to support his coaches while in fight for the season..what else could he say, throw his lame duck coach under the bus so the team quits and his staff ignores him? no thats dumb..

They're probably telling Jerry that so he'll keep him. lol Mike McCarthy has a SB ring and he isn't even coaching.

Lmaooo I agree. Why the hell would anyone else want us to get rid of Garret? Then we may actually be a threat.
Secretly I think people are laughing at us in league circles.

Not a single organization other than the Cowboys would hire this clown, let alone stick with him for as long as this team has.

This is Jerry's ego talking, deluding itself against the probable perceived reaction that he will look like an even bigger clown because not only was he actually fooled by a clown who he hired and thought was the next Sean Payton, he stuck with the coach in training for a decade and has nothing to show for it.

Nobody knows for certain if Jerry is intent upon retaining JG as his HC or actually following up on his proposed intention of not extending him if he fails to deliver a conference title. He has fudged on his promises before.

Conversely, it's also not too difficult to imagine him making excuses to keep him in tow, either. In either case, it'll be interesting to see what transpires if and when a conference championship fails to materialize, as is quite likely.

It's fair to anticipate a firestorm of criticism being in store for him as a result of a failure to release his favorite HC. That's no stranger to JJ, however. This drama will continue to unfold, without a doubt.

THE LEVEL of an owner being out of touch with reality is simply off the charts... THIS IS DEPRESSING. He aint firing him..even if we lose every game. He's more likely to sign him up for another 3 years.

Translation: Jason has gotten everything he can out of Jerry Jones' Head Coach Fantasy Camp. We are now accepting applications for our next lucky client.

LMAO....by who? No one in the NFL. Maybe Jerry meant sought out by a few Madden players. That's why I really don't blame Garrett. I'm not qualified either to coach.the Dallas Cowboys but if Jones is dumb enough to pay me 5 million a year? I'd be coaching Dallas now. That's the problem with this team. Jerry loves to hire guys that probably should n't be coaching the positions they are. The results of this year thus far tells it all.

Well,he’s probably going to see that open market. Even at full health. This team couldn’t get over the hump. Garrett has had far more time and support than he should have. Needed some bigger wins in postseason for me. It’s time...I don’t dislike him at all. I’m just seeing ok...this just wont work, and time to start a new regime. It’s the ugly losses I can’t stomach anymore. Why does his bad have to be super bad? Can’t it be relatively bad, instead of the house is on fire bad.
