Jones: Gregory 'Absolutely' Will Play Next 2 Games

One of the best teams in the NFL could be adding another impact player to its defense for Week 16.

On Sunday, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told David Helman of the team's official site that defensive end Randy Gregory is eligible to return next week after being under suspension for the entire 2016 season to this point.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell confirmed the news on Monday, per NFL Network's James Palmer.

On Tuesday, Jones said Gregory will "absolutely" appear in one or both of the final two games of the season, per Troy Hughes of 105.3 The Fan.

Gregory was suspended the first four games of the season due to a drug-policy violation, and in September, the NFL added a 10-game suspension due to another violation. According to FanSided's George Stockburger (via NFL Mocks, h/t Fox Sports), NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported in November of a third violation, and "Gregory still faces a year-long suspension due to the multiple positive tests."

On Monday, Rapoport reported Gregory will practice this week and is slated to play while he awaits the appeal of the year-long ban.

The Cowboys (12-2) face the Detroit Lions in Week 16 and can clinch the NFC East—and No. 1 seed in the conference—with a win.

Wouldn't exactly refer to Gregory as a shiny new toy. He's one of those toys you were excited about when you first got it but it ended up not being as much fun as you thought.
Oh this toy has Jerry seeing stars.

Gregory lights the world on fire providing situational outside pass rush down the stretch. We end up facing the Giants in the divisional round, Mara has a nice late night dinner with Goodell on that Monday, the appeal is ruled upon on that Wednesday and he's suspended again.

The manufacturer forgot the intelligence chip for the toy to run properly. Every times it smells weed, it malfunctions.

I've always said that Gregory was a Jerry pick. Garrett didn't like the pick.

Sometimes Jerry hits on a Jerry pick and sometimes he fails. Leary was a Jerry signing as a UDFA. Jerry was more excited that year about Leary than any of the draft picks.

Gregory was obviously a miss. Even if he plays, missing a year makes it a less than desirable pick. I remember the story that Jerry had talked to Gregory multiple times prior to and during the draft.

I tend to think the Jaylon Smith might have been a Jerry pick also.

I hope he has a multi-sack game and Jerry has his moment in the sun. It wont last long being that the NFL is still making cannabinoids as bad as cocaine and Heroin.
It doesn't matter what you, or the players, don't like about some of the rules. They agreed when they signed their multi-million dollar contracts that they would abide by them. Last I heard, playing in the NFL is still a privilege, & not a right.

The way this season is playing out, It wouldn't surprise me to see Gregory be a contributor immediately, that said, I could see him being as impactful as he was in week 3 as well.

I'm confused on this whole thing. Is this year long suspension in addition to the 14 games Gregory has already served?

all I can hope for is he can come in and contribute. He has been working out and in meetings though out the season. I would think his snaps will be limited, have to wait and see what he can do

Obviously, the NFL doesn't want to see any of its players possibly OD by injecting several strong marijuana lines into their bloodstream.
