another way to view it is, whats gained by waiting? Wont it just get worse by waiting? Isn't better to see WHO really wants to be here next year? I think I lean towards making changes NOW rather than later. It sets a tone of heads will roll if you don't give your all.
Nothing gained by waiting, but nothing lost either. This season was a planned down season. We have to accept that. MM will not get a new contract from Dallas and that is probably best for both parties. Zimmer has to go too and probably a bunch of other coaches as well. When this season is over, the psyche of this team will require a rebuild.

I wonder if the team saw the off-season and concluded the front office doesn't care what happens this year so why should they.

Firing means he made a mistake.

Letting them walk in the offseason when their contracts expire > cutting losses early.

Jerry seems to be getting unhinged at the prospects of being recognized as a fool for blaming McCarthy for his team's problems. He's stuck in somewhat of a denial that he's largely responsible for the plight that his team suffers under. It may be interesting to see whether or not he'll be inclined to pursue blaming MM for what is largely his fault. It seems he's painted himself into a corner and isn't yet willing to assume the blame.

He is only lying if the team does not completely mutiny on Mike McCarthy.
It’s already happened. All the talk about being “professional” means, “Do the right thing because it is the right thing..even though you don’t fear the coach.”

What are you people really expecting to come from firing anyone at this point?
Do you thin Mike M being gone will stop us from giving up 200 yards on the ground each game?
Do you think it will really change anything this year?

We have both a personnel and a scheme issue.

If, similar to what happened with Wade Phillips, the team completely lays down against San Francisco in a prime time, standalone game, I have a feeling that this sentiment of his will change.
Yep,
Pretty close to the same scenario.
True.

He doesn't want to pay MM off for the season and then have to pay another coach even more money.
Maybe. But why not? It's not like he doesn't have the money. What strange principle does he think he is upholding?

He would only do something like this for a terrible coach like Jason Garrett.

The Cowboys actually started playing a lot better after Wade Phillips got fired. It seemed to light a fire under the team. The Cowboys were 1-7 under Wade and proceeded to go 5-3 the rest of the season, including a win over a Peyton Manning led Colts team on the road. We won those 5 games with John Kitna at QB.

After Green Bay you had to get rid of McCarthy, Dak, or both.

They went full status quo.
They didn't even get rid of the D coordinator. He did that on his own. We made almost zero proactive moves after the most embarrassing playoff loss I can recall. That's saying something because the Jones Cowboys have had some real stinkers in the playoffs.

Been a Cowboy fan since the 70's. There has been only 1 constant since the last SB. THAT'S the problem! Look in the mirror Jerrah.
