How many head coaches left their head coaching job in Dallas and went straight to a head coaching in the NFL after losing their job in Dallas?

Jimmy.

Gailey EVENTUALLY did, but he had to go to Georgia Tech and be a head coach there for several years before returning to the NFL as a head coach in Buffalo some 10+ years after being fired in Dallas

But Switzer, Parcells, Phillps, Garrett, Campo...once Dallas was done with them...the NFL was done with them or vice versa.

Jerry brings people in that ALLOW him to be Jerry. Jerry does not want someone to come in and within 3 years be in the NFC title game...it would invalidate EVERYTHING Jerry has been trying to do for almost 30 years.

Parcells retired as a coach but immediately got an executive role soon after, Sean Payton wanted him as interim coach. Garrett got a coordinator job and so did Wade Phillips. Most coaches after being demoted after go the coordinator route again.

Don’t agree with this premise at all in the sense that these guys didn’t get jobs or couldn’t.

Why do yall think Jerry is fearful? Or ashamed? Or emvarssssd? Y’all use these words to describe him and his actions don’t show this. His actions show you not only is he content but he isn’t afraid. He ain’t embarrassed. He’s content.

Jerry could win out SB from now to his end and would not make up for last 30 years of failure.
Yes it would lol. A SB cures everything. Nobody cares when you do it as long as you do it. Nobody cares about the failures the Rangers and Mavericks had prior to winning.

Nobody cared about firing Tom Landry when they won the SB with Jimmy.

can't really put parcells in that class. he was burnt out and left...like he did everywhere else. he went to a FO job.

if he had wanted to coach, he would have been hired.

he took Quincy Carter to the playoffs. that may be the best coaching job in nfl history

This is true! Jerry would not be happy if a strong competent coach came in and won a Super Bowl in his 3rd year. Everyone would know that it was the coach who turned it around and not him.

Jerry wants all the credit! Well he can get the credit for the last 28 years too.

But it won’t change the one thing Hog Jowls craves…credit he was as responsible for the 90s Super Bowls as Jimmy. His almost 3 decades of results since have solidified Jimmy as 95% responsible.

Go back to his “500 coaches can coach this team” statement. That tells you what he thought. He was saying I built this team and any coach can win with it. And that mindset will prevent him from ever doing anything necessary to win another SB because, in his mind, he’s responsible for 3 already (2 more than the Landry/Schramm combo).

To be acccurate , parcels retired. He did a heck of job rebuilding the roster. But Jerry hired less capable men after him.

I don’t know what Jerry thinks or feels. It’s hard for me to fathom someone wanted credit for something they own but they think they can only get it if they run everything. Very silly.

Spot on! He changed a team that had gone 5-11 three straight years to a 10-6 team the first year. That wasn’t done by wholesale changing of personnel. It was done by changing the culture and instilling toughness.

Parcells also didn't have sacred cows. He brought Drew Bledsoe in who had been his SB QB in NE. But that didn’t stop him from pulling him at the half in a Monday night when he wasn’t getting it done. Bledsoe was pissed but the Tuna didn’t care.

And exactly how does this make Jerry fearful?

I'd bet he hasn't ever thought about any of this.
