Jerry is still open to a substantive trade before the season if the right opportunity presents

You got me at the beginning of training camp, Jerry. Not this time. Fool me once...

Sign. Taylor. Decker.
Nice player but I don’t see it.

After Miller’s contract is finalized, the team is likely to have between $10m-$12m left under the cap. They are required to keep $3m-4m free to cover the 53 man roster expansion (currently oily the top 51 count) as well as practice squad and IR.

So, realistically they have around $8m

The cowboys have traditionally kept between $5m-$7m free to start the season to allow themselves flexibility to replace injured players or make a trade dealing room if something appeals.

Decker is almost certainly not a fit for the team’s current situation. He was scheduled to get $15m base and when the Lions approached him about a pay cut he didn’t even listen. He just asked for his release.

They would have to rework some contracts, but no, they are not going to pay any free agent $15 million for one year. The team has shown a willingness to trade, which is what Jerry mentioned here, so the only way a "substantive" move is going to be made is through a trade, and I don't think that's likely either.

I'm just thinking......not saying it's true......but, could it be that......

Jerry don't care about no future anymore?

Will he willingly trade away the next five 1st round draft picks if he's convinced it will get him a Super Bowl in 2026 or 2027?

It feels like a two year window and I'm not talking about Dak's career.

If the Cowboys come close but doesn't win it all then I think Jerry will sign every mercenary he can get his hands on for 2027.

I believe that Jerry Jones is desperate for a Super Bowl championship he can claim as 100% his very own in the dual role of Owner/GM. It is practically the only thing that has eluded him.

Jerry has fame and fortune to leave as a legacy but he knows he will never be accepted as a true football executive without a final championship, one that is minus Jimmy Johnson and the team that he built.
