FA should be for missing pieces when you are ready to make a run. That is where we are right now. The missing pieces are FS, RG, backup QB. Those are ALSO positions where you DO NOT WANT a rookie starting.

I think it's going to take everyone, including Jerry (especially Jerry) a little while to get used to this new cap situation. People are going to overreact to average players getting what were previously considered large contracts (i.e., Gurode).

Jerry said its not the premium free agents he has a problem with, its paying the lower tier guys.

In other words, he doesn't want to pay 2.5 million for a kicker, 1 million for Rocky Boiman, 1.1 million for Ryan Hannam and 1.3 million for Jason Fabini and ot having anything to show for it. That's 5 million combined in signing bonuses. (Although, in Fabini's case, I say its a good thing when you're not having to play your backup LT)
