Is Jerry still on the list for the HOF as a contributor.
Does this draft class solidify his getting voted it.

Yes contributor vs. GM and some / many will want to credit Will McClay and others.
But if you criticize him you also should praise him. I said should, and not must, as some won't give credit where credit is due regardless.

So if the season plays out as it has been so far, and we say, get to at least the NFCCG, does this get Jerry in.

Yes he deserves HOF,

Yes he has screwed us fans out of at least one super bowl... maybe 2...3.... with decisions he shouldn't be making.

I am pro Jerry and his constructions are HOF worthy. Not all of them.. but enough of them.

Like him or not jerry is a key figure in NFL history and deserves to be in the hall of fame
:hammer:

The TV contracts. Direct stadium marketing. Contributor to a football dynasty.
Jerry Jones belongs in the Hall. You simply cannot write football history for the past three decades and not mention Jerry as one of the most influential owners of this era.

I wish Jimmy and Jerry both made it at the same time so they could give speeches for each other......haha

It could be written that Jerry has contributed to the NFL watering down the quality of talent and the level of football selling itself out.

While it has gained enormous revenue and popularity the league has been pimped out.

No one I know thinks the quality of the teams in this league are better since the Salary Cap , new rules to optimize passing game, etc.

We had Parity with equal TV revenue sharing. The league appeared to be in great shape with more Dynasties.

The Cowboys would have survived just fine under other bidders Dr Jerry Buss of the Lakers and Donald Carter of the Mavs who actually had higher bids. And small market teams would have continued to flourish like in Green Bay and Pittsburgh.

Jerry brilliantly put all the wheels in motion where revenue wouldn't be dependent on the success of the teams on the field.

The NFL is the only league where all teams make money regardless of the production or success on the field.

Jerry basically placed himself in a position where he could continue being GM without being financially responsible with his lack of success on the field. Sure, he'd make a little more if he won but obviously he's still #1 despite his lack of success for a generation. I'd call that Rigged.

Tex Schramm was a master pimp in the NFL too. He and Pete Rozelle were mentors for the rest of professional sports . Tex even told Jerry" you must have consistent success on the field to retain your popularity and revenue stream".

Jerry had the success early and parlayed that with new TV contracts with Fox, establishing the NFL Network, The Salary Cap and his NFL lawsuit for stadium sponsorship which BTW is revenue not shared with the players . Jerry found a huge loop hole and manipulated it all for his benefit and of course because of the equal sharing it benefitted everyone. But he tried to challenge the equal revenue too and was fined for speaking out on it.

Jerry is invested in Fantasy which has also created huge revenue and fringe fans which has diluted how fans cheer on their teams and players while attracting more fringe fans who wouldn't be as invested in the NFL raising prices to the diehards who supported it for decades.

Personally , I see the NFL as a much lesser quality football league since Jerry's influence has impacted it. Tex would probably be impressed Jerry proved him wrong. Tex said Jerry would be revolutionary to the game but I'm not sure if this is what he meant.

But to answer the question ... Jerry is a finalist. Not all get in on their first nomination. His fine earlier in the season for a record number of suspended players didn't help his cause. Plus he ruffled feathers in last NFL meeting discussing the NFL TV ratings down. Again he appears more concerned about the Cowboys than the NFL.

I'm not sure the success of this draft or teams plays into it which the teams success on the field had nothing to with his nomination .

Remember the commissioners didn't make it in on first nomination either. Sports writers ultimately have the power which gives me hope he won't get in or at least delay it.

Although not necessarily first ballot - like him or not - he's a mortal lock.
What has accomplished that makes Jimmy Johnson a lock for the Hall of Fame? I do think he was an excellent coach. I don't think he was a Hall of Fame Coach.

Maybe not but it's a reasonable argument . Remember "impact" is also a factor in nomination.

There have been great talents in the NFL with abbreviated careers like Gayle Sears shortened to 5 years cause of injury or a Namath who's career numbers don't measure up but for a few years their impact was Iconic.

For about 5 years I'm not sure many had as much Impact as Jimmy.

The owners are not the ones voting right?
