Sorry to everyone hoping we take Wentz/Goff at 4, won't happen unless scouts are putting their careers on the line that he is the man. We are taking a defensive blue chipper or trading down

I would be all in for this defensive blue chipper you are talking about, but that does not exist in this draft.

You can poke holes in practically every top shelf prospect right now.

Bosa - limited to LDE
Ramsey - nobody can say if he is a CB or S
Jack - pure projection to MLB

The top QB, WR and RB prospects at least have set positions and/or have defined roles.

Uh oh...Mr. Jones and Stephen see acquiring more players and defensive guys will give Dallas the best shot with Romo. Maybe #4 may not go to a player that you honestly hope doesn't play for at minimum two seasons.

This offseason is going to be a good one!!!

"Candidly, I'm just counting on Tony to come back and have some of the greatest years, if not the best years, of his career," Jerry Jones said. "We want to make sure that we've got him the supporting cast. Defense, as Stephen said, is a big part of that. We tried to do it this year. We didn't get here. We'll keep trying to get it done. We got to be able to stop them."

quotes like this is the reason why this team will never compete for a superbowl until this old man is no longer controlling this team. I also agree that hope is not a plan for success and the future.

Not really.

It will be yet another offseason where it becomes painful obvious we are run by leadership that has no vision beyond the immediate, is incapable of looking ahead for the better good or has any grasp of what it means to construct a winning football team. 20 years and counting.

We'll see how it shakes out. Hope the evaluators keep doing a good job especially when it comes to early round picks. Dallas is a young club with some talent, holes of course but young talent nonetheless.

If the evaluators do there jobs well and don't reach for any player or position they will be OK.

like getting a Good QB for the future because anybody we get in FA wont be any good or better than Cassell type.

How does that help next year? Romo and Witten only have a couple more years left. We need defensive impact players now. Not a rookie QB that will ride the pine. Only reason to pick a QB at #4 would be if there's a true franchise QB available. I don't think any of them are. No more of a crap shoot than picking a QB.

i disagree .The first problem is that its always has been about Romo and for good reason but now its too late.Nows its time to think about the Franchise rather than a very injury prone QB.I also think 2 or 3 QBs in this draft have a great chance of being a franchise QB.Fans are never going to forgive Jerry if he passes on the next Rodgers. That may break the camels back

That was a foregone conclusion when Jerry watched Denver win a SB with no QB and an offense that actually put 6 points on the board. Just because it is a foregone conclusion doesnt mean its the right one.

The right concusion is taking a top 20 defensive talent at #4 and banking on a 4th round pick to be our QB of the future

How does that help next year?

Every offseason, it is about some window closing, some secret sauce, some special player that will just make the difference.

All it has become is a fruitless exercise that has delivered zero in terms of results.

Romo and Witten only have a couple more years left.

So what? You honestly think one or two players in the next few years will be the ones to get them their trophy?

Say that happens (it won't, but for the sake of fantasy), then what? Tank and start over?

Look at the Broncos.

They have been preparing for Manning's departure since he was signed as they drafted and have been grooming Osweiler. Now, they are prepared if he leaves.

There is more than one way to improve the roster.

If you are loading up and going for it while Romo is around, what makes more sense?

A veteran capable of playing right now or a rookie who has to learn how to play in this league?

Where is their immediate contribution other than plugging a hole on the roster?

We need defensive impact players now.

Then get them in free agency. Name the last rookie who came in and made an impact. The last one was a generational player in Demarcus Ware.

All the Anthony Spencers, Morris Claibornes, Demarcus Lawrences and the like have not come in and delivered the "now" you say has to be done.

So Bosa and/or Ramsey will? Do tell.

Not a rookie QB that will ride the pine.

We also need a backup QB. The rookie could also function as that.

Only reason to pick a QB at #4 would be if there's a true franchise QB available. I don't think any of them are.

Based off of what? If you are going to sit and wait for a Peyton Manning/Andrew Luck that satisfies what you think is a "true franchise QB", you will be waiting a long time.

Do you even see what is likely to be available in 2017? 2018? Or do you even think that far ahead?

No more of a crap shoot than picking a QB.

So just roll the dice on a defender simply because they are more likely to see the field?

I guess basically the concept is to get a warm body out there just because rather than take what is best for the franchise for the inevitable apocalypse that will be when Romo hangs it up.

If you want "now", would you endorse taking an offensive impact player now?

I doubt it.
