One thing I’ve found over the last 3 decades plus is our foolish idiotic narcissistic owner loves spewing his intentions publicly .

And while he’s been known to change directions or move with public perception he’s not known as a liar or intentionally misleading the public.

As much as I despise Jethro this appears to be his intentions regardless what side of the fence fans are on.

I almost totally agree except for whenever his narcissism is publicly questioned and he feels compelled to give an answer he would not normally give.

The thing is what is special once you start losing players around them that made them special.. Again i know Mahomes is considered elite, I'm not sure people realize how much gap there is between his play and the second QB.. seriously you take away Hill give him another rookie RB lose a RG and he STILL beats the other teams.. look at the SB seriously who had the better team if the QB's are taken out. Philly did and its really not close but Mahomes is that much better than every other QB in the league. Think of this if i took AJ Brown, Sanders and your best OL off last years team does Philly still go to the SB?

Dak was never not going to get the extension. It doesn’t matter if he throws 20 interceptions this year. The team is not built to develop a new QB, you’re built to make the playoffs right now. Jerry has said it over and over: winning the Super Bowl is not his barometer. Making the playoffs to compete for SBs is. Dak is in that Kirk Cousins/Jared Goff range where if you give him a good team he’s never not going to win 9+ games. That is playoff caliber, he’s exactly what Jerry is looking for.

It is very likely he is still Dallas’ QB approaching 2030. It took Oakland/LV 8 years to get over Derek Carr’s 2015 season. That is the current NFL. What happened to Goff in LA is not a realistic expectation of Jerry.

Whether you’re a Dak lover or Dak Hater, it doesn’t matter. This isn’t a Dak positive or Dak negative post. It’s a reality post: he was getting this extension with or without Lance, with or without the picks, with or without Mccarthy’s approval.

Financially for Dallas it doesn’t make sense not to do it, on-the-field it doesn’t make sense not to do it, and for Jerry’s fan outreach and PR it doesn’t make sense not to do it. Some of you are getting too bottled up in the hot take media. Dak will be a long term Cowboy because it’s the most rational choice at this juncture.

Like the eagles we don’t have rational fans.

its a fair point for sure but i think that Jerry is a bit more on edge with dumping him than others are....if this team gets to 12+ wins and a dvisional round win, you are going to see Dak get paid....if its 10+ wins and a WC win, you will still probably see Dak get paid but i would put it closer to 50/50 honestly....if they miss the playoffs or lose in the WC round i think Jerry may snap.

Unless there's a significant injury, Prescott will start and it's really not debatable at this point. Down the road I could see a similar situation that brought Romo to retirement and just maybe Lance has a future.

But now, it's gonna be at least 2-3 years. Or, at least when Prescott's skills decline.

It would take a total collapse and missing playoffs for something drastic which could cost several jobs including coaches but Jethro isn’t likely going to let him walk with 3 straight playoff performances . Especially if we don’t win division and have to win on the road .
