He should have done this when this first surfaced instead of putting his HC through that really uncomfortable Q&A. This after storming out of his suite to the locker room after the playoff loss.

I think he let McC twist in the wind on purpose because he was angry at him and embarrassed.

Not the first time he's let that happen. After a loss, Qwens threw Garrett under the bus and Booger's response "I have no problem with that".

On most NFL teams, the GM and the owner have the HC's back, on the Cowboys, the GM has the players' backs and that's ego related. He's too wrapped up himself to understand the message he's really sending. He's a lot better at picking players than coaches, the first and most critical job of every GM. But then, as an owner he's not very good at picking a GM.

I agree, but I think if the defense continues to grow but the offense stalls, Quinn has a shot also.

Not sure how I feel on that one. I think Quinn is the best football mind and coach that we've had in a long time, but his strength is as DC, and we lose a lot of that if he is HC. But the players respect him, including Parsons, and the rest will follow. We really need that here, and something Jerry usually takes away from the "acting" HC just by being him.

In the end it depends on what Payton wants to do IMO. I think MM needs to GET to a SB to be fully safe for 23.

Yeah. I want Quinn at DC too.

Sometimes Jerryspeak gets on my last nerve.

Qualified?

This is the same man who elevated Dave Campo to head coach and stuck with him for three years. The same man who stuck with Garrett for a decade.

Were either of them as qualified as Mike McCarthy?

"He shouldn't be a conversation piece." Okay. Don't twist a simple answer into a conversation for narcissism sake. "We hired Mike as our head coach. He will be our head coach for years to come. Next question." Done. No one will ever shut up the media using diarrhea of the mouth.

Take an Imodium already.

Of course, but either he fails us as DC, or gets that second opportunity elsewhere. Way better shot of this defense upstaging the offense, and my prediction for the season.

Reading between the lines on Jerryspeak, I'm not sure he wants to lose him entirely for the sake of keeping MM.

My guess is Jerry is still very pissed off about a few things with MM, like him lying to get the job and laughing about it publicly...with Jerry next to him.

Throw in not having the team prepared for SF, which is why he was hired.....some supposed magical words to guide a team through a playoff run lol......How do you then come out and say "we looked nervous?" Wow.

Rough one, but his money is guaranteed and status quo works pending the outcome of this season.

That's the way I see it anyway.

Jerry Jones: Don't you feel the same way about Mike McCarthy, coaching staff and players?
Coaching staff and players: Yes, sir, Mr. Jones, sir. We feel the same way about Coach McCarthy!

I would prefer any circumstances that keep Quinn at DC, with Payton as Option A or McCarthy as Option B. Moore isn’t in the conversation for HC for me either.

The real story here is the relative eloquence of Jerry's comments.

I didn't even need to break out the Jerry Speak translator.

to those that hate MM and claim it was all Rogers show me MM and SP side by side career win% playoff win % and SB appearances and wins..

then try and claim MM sux without mentioning their careers are nearly identical.. ill show you just as many losing seasons for SP those headscratchers with brees to be 7-9 3 straight season and his falling short in big payoff games but blame the refs ,..,huh sound familiar? it should they are both pretty close to the same coaches..i like SP but please stop acting as if hes worth draft capital plus paying him nearly twice as much as Bill Belichick to come here and how you expect him to just be better then MM..lmao..

he might have slight edge but stop the madness..hes not worth 25mil as the fake repots from MIA suggest,...escpaiclly given he turned something like that down shows burnout similar to parcels experienced late in his career ,who BTW cost us shot at SP given his lack of commitment at the end and quit without trying to plan and exit where SP taks over..

Mike McCarthy compiled a record of 143 wins and 92 losses and 2 ties, 10-9 playoffs.
Payton's 139-84 overall, playoff record 9–8

seems pretty close to me

Same guy... anyone who looks at it logically can see it. one had a HOF QB who has a great demeanor the other had a HOF QB that most who know him cant stand him.

Definitely plan A in my book, but the question is can Jerry keep Quinn as DC the way he has kept McClay?

I'd love that, but the fact is Quinn is getting a second shot at HC....somewhere.

Let's see how it plays out. I'm both happy and disgusted that I agree with Jerry's words this time.

I think they’ve done everything they can to take care of him, short of making him the head coach. He’s gotten a nice raise and is well compensated and he gets who and what he wants in terms of defensive personnel.

If he’s bound and determined for another shot at head coach? There’s little more they can do yo keep him.

But I would prefer either Payton or McCarthy to having to name Quinn as head coach.

not saying SP wouldn't be nice addition maybe even a slight upgrade but really you want coach whos is slightly burned out and give up any draft picks and pay the man twice what you are payig MM?? seriously ?

but for sure there some clueless fans who just want MM gone because of his weight and they don't take him seriously and think SP is huge upgrade and well I'm saying that's just not true if you bring facts into it..not emotions. IM sure my stats won't go over well because its far too much realism with factual data.

its crazy MM yar one had no change roster was severely depleted and C19 took over the league , year 2 ;12-5 playoff appearance and now they want him gone..recidulius..10 years of Garett sure ready to move on MM 2 years where one season was a throwaway, next season was huge step forward and know somehow hes on the hotseat?? fan base is fickle..

Payton isn’t coming here regardless what happens with Mikey.

Unless no one else wants him. Which is about only reason anyone comes to Dallas in this dysfunctional organization.

Fans are so desperate for hope . They thought McCarthy was our savior and are already investing hope on our next savior.

Breaking news Cowboys fans . No one is going to save us from Jethro. Well, except for Mother Nature.

I don't get the fascination with Sean Payton. MM has a similar career record and he won't cost the team draft capital. Both HC's have 1 Super Bowl with Hall of Fame QB's.
