I don't know. Stephen is just a parrot though...about this player on the come.

Guy makes me cringe. I'm a fan of Jerral Wayne...but I don't care for Jr.
No, Stephen is part of a team and states the team's approach, honestly.

“The problem is, we put third- and fourth-round grades on guys and they’re all gone by halfway through the second round,” Stephen Jones said. “This was a great opportunity, we think, value-wise, to get a guy who has a bright future. At the end of the day, we’re really trusting exactly what we thought of him coming out.”

Prescott is in the third year of a $160 million, four-year contract, while Lance has two years remaining on his rookie contract. The Cowboys hold the fifth-year option, but the cost makes it unlikely the club would use it, particularly with Jerry Jones saying, “I don’t want to plan on, count on or wish for help from him this year.”

Sorry, I don't own these facts...just provided those elements for someone to make his own mind up with! I also wasn't seeking board sanction in doing so...

He doesn’t mention Hurts by name so that likely gets him off the hook there.

What I find to be a positive is the fact that unlike Paxton Lynch and Connor Cook, the Cowboys clearly identified a very good quarterback and person in Hurts and would have drafted him had Philadelphia not.
I just don't know what it accomplishes to say it.

More harm than good comes out, imo, when you say stuff like this. No one else makes comments like this lol

I'm sure coaches & player personnel discussed the possibility long before the call.

He mentioned the draft, so they probably looked pretty hard at him then. This was coming off the 2020 season, when Dak fractured his leg. If I recall, the contract was given after the draft.

And which FO consults a QB when they make a trade for a QB? One can definitely make the argument for the HC, which is bizarre that they didn’t even consult him.

The “rain tape” in Chicago was bizarre too, since he said they looked at it AFTER the trade…

Based on Jerry’s direct answer, McCarthy was not consulted.
That would be a "Bankrotterklärung" as we say over here which basically means that it couldn't get worse as far as the communication between the FO and the coaching staff goes. Wow.

No matter how one thinks about MM but if that's true than this was the dick move of the season from Jerry.

Jerry saw a deal he liked, and he wanted the player. There was no time to run the trade by anyone, they were in the moment. I have no issues with process. I wish it would've been a 5th rounder, but they didn't have one.

My 2cents: The FO desperately needed some leverage at QB. Idk how Lance turns out, but they had to do something.

McCarthy didn't know until after it was done. Same for Dak.

'Twas Jerry and the scouts, he says.

As far as Dak or McCarthy.. I assume McCarthy. But IDK.
Watching MM’s presser after the game, he sounded like he was surprised to hear the news.

Chad Hutchison, Ryan Leaf and Drew Henson all failed. We’ll see how this one goes. Doubt this one will work out, but you never know. Jerry confirmed what many speculated that he would have drafted Carson Wentz had he fallen to the Cowboys.
