In two seasons, Dallas transitioned from Mike McCarthy to Brian Schottenheimer. Not only did the team's penalties remain in the Top 10 of the league. They grew worse. Overall team execution and efficiency grew worse. This is a key factor for the team's lack of success, along with available talent and coaching.

On the other hand, Mike Macdonald inherited a Pete Carroll team that ranked 5th in the penalties. Macdonald's first-year staff and players made only marginal, but positive improvement. They followed up with massive improvement in reducing penalties last season.

The Seahawks corrected a central issue that helped them win a Super Bowl at 60-1 odds. The Cowboys have not done the same. Yet. Unless Dallas can reshape itself into a complete juggernaut that wins regardless of how many in-game miscues, having too many penalties will remain another self-made obstacle of repeating what Seattle did in February.

Face palm all you want, but the Cowboys do in fact state that their goal is to not win the SB every year Jerry stays the GM. It's just that simple, and you are only fooling yourself.

On day 2 of the draft, Jerry was holding a press conference and came right out and said "Our goal is not to go to the superbowl every year. The goal is to make each year better than the previous year."

Pretty much. Dallas can win the super bowl. I'd just rather they not keep talking about it and correct their terrible discipline issue before getting so loud

But yes I noticed Seattle cleaned up penalties pretty nicely.
