Myself, I don't see the coaching staff as blind to directions. They figured out use of talent and how to approach it's use continually over the pre season and intense study and training. As the Cowboys' GM, Jerry Jones simply isn't doing what needs to be done to get the right people involved with his team. Luepke is a highly talented FB/RB/TE who is ideally suited to replace what is now missing with Zeke's absence. Of course, Jerry is much more involved with tending to his team's brand, rather than seeing to it that the appropriate talent is being properly involved as Zeke's replacement. If he were active in seeing to it that Luepke was being used in that capacity the team's offense would've seen far better results than it has recently.
Trying to project on a weekly basis, there is one more element being established here and now. That is as a team and on the clock for real, meeting momentum changes as they come down the pike. McCarthy's team isn't ready yet on that level. One can be smart on the level of adjusting to injury...but responsibility for winning is still on the Head Coach...NOT JERRY! He was involved before and will again be involved after the season...now, it is McCarthy and his players.
