well, I think it is a little early to say that. At the end of the season, they need to address our needs and what they see is available. Can you address those needs in the 2nd rd? Maybe, and if you can, it would make sense to trade the lesser of the 1sts next year. No matter what you do, I think 2 players in the 2nd rd is better than 1 middle of the 1st pick. There are absolute stud players found throughout the draft in various rds. The more shots you have, the better.

Don't think we'll get two seconds for a late first. Maybe a second and third at best.

My ideal would be taking a pass rusher with the first first-rounder, trading down with the second for a safety or linebacker and taking whichever one of those we didn't get in the second in the third. Then, I'd probably dip back into getting a running back in the fourth to increase competition there.

Of course, so much of that depends on what we do in free agency. For instance, if Javonte Williams asks too much and we let him walk, then running back becomes a higher priority than it needs to be. If we let Pickens walk (which I doubt), then do we go with Flournoy as the No. 2 receiver (a big step back) or does receiver become a priority?

I hope we retain what we've got overall and build on it in the draft. I don't care that much for once if we add in free agency, although I'd love to get a top-notch pass rusher, if we don't subtract in free agency. Sure, we're going to lose some guys like Murray and possibly Donovan Wilson and Brock Hoffman, but those are replaceable parts IMO (although I think Wilson is better than fans think).

NOTE: My ideal on the draft doesn't take into account who will be available. Obviously, you don't reach for a DE if a much better player is there when we pick. Maybe you allow another team to trade up for that player, though, so you can drop down a little to take a DE. Won't know that until the draft.

Yeah, it worked out better than I thought it would. The trade for Quinnen made all the difference. Clark was a solid addition, but getting a premier 3-tech as well made it worthwhile to trade one of the top pass rushers in the league.

I mean, if you'd asked me before the season if I would trade Parsons for Clark and Quinnen, I would have said sign me up ... and I not down on Parsons like some on this board. I don't have to make him look bad to appreciate what we got in return.

We are the better team today than we were with Parsons and still have a 1st rd pick still to come. We had to fix the dl to have a chance. Still need that edge, but the dl is vastly improved from Mazi, osa from last season

At 1-7 the Jets realize that they were worse than they thought, and that they'll likely suck for 2-3 more years, and decided to dump his contract and not waste his prime.

They did the player a favor...

and we were fortunate enough to have the draft capital to make it happen. That's why QW shows respect and gratitude toward the Jets every time he's questioned. Williams is a solid enough dude, so out of good faith the let him go.

Our FO isn't quite as dumb as some of you guys like to make it, and at some point you should try to appreciate that we fleeced every team involved, but the Jets weren't doing us a favor. They were showing mercy and good faith on Williams for being a good person.

Funny **, but let's get real. The Jets did Williams (and by default, Dallas) a favor, since they are going into a rebuild. It's just the right thing to do once you go all-in on the process.
