Completely agree. Did anyone else wonder why we got the sun in the 4th quarter even though we won the toss? It was mind numbing. I just can't comprehend this idiocy either.

Because Garrett is stubborn and want the ball first instead of defer to 2nd half.

Oh yes there is. First, you take the side that gives you the advantage in the 4th quarter if you have the chance. Second, it's their home field. They should have a specific set of plays designed to neutralize the effect of the sun. They should know from where the QB can throw to a WR and take the sun out of the play and design plays for that. Roll the QB out so he is throwing from a position where the sun is not directly at his back. Do something to limit the impact. It is beyond my comprehension that a pro football coach would allow the design of his stadium to negatively impact his team without even trying to do something about it. It could become a huge advantage if you are prepared for it when other teams are not.

The sun's been around for a billion years and it'll probably be around for a billion more, so get over it

I hear you. If you're going to play a ball control offense and try to take the game to the 4th quarter with your rookie QB, then you'd want the sun advantage in the 4th quarter. Whatever....nothing surprises me anymore with this guy.

I guess makes sense, but also sounds like a load of bs someone fed Moore. Would have to be some fairly big/Tall buildings.

The 50 year old Arby's and Laundromat aren't tall enough I guess across the street!!

If I understand the coin toss process correctly, it's even worse than that.

The Cowboys won the toss, and elected to receive. The Giants then selected which goal they wanted to defend.

The Giants then have the choice to open the second half. As they received the ball, I assume that they chose to receive. That would then mean that the Cowboys had the opportunity to select which goal they wanted to defend. They then chose the side that would have led to the sun being in the receivers eyes in the fourth quarter.

In other words, they did it to themselves when having a second opportunity to make the choice. FWIW, they have done the same in the past, specifically against the Giants in 2014, and it wasn't an issue.

I really don't understand the rationale of getting ball first at home.
At kickoff is when the crowd is excited and noisy so you want your opponent to have the ball so it's hard to hear. Same rationale for asking for ball at 2nd half when playing away games. During half time people are getting food, bathroom so noise level is down at beginning of 2nd half. Get your offense when the crowd is still in the bathroom or concession stands.

Of all the things I'd like to know about the game, coaching, strategy, etc, the sun isn't exactly high on my list.

Jerry will get this all straightened out. I'm sure there was alot of talk of the " accountability with the unique way we are structured", and there is "no pressure, like the pressure of having your credit cards cut up on the tarmac at Love Field", and of course "have you seen my new helicopter?"

:lmao:

Other teams use Jerry owning the Cowboys to their advantage. :(

Why the heck would you build a billion dollar stadium with a roof that let's the sun in and not instruct your coaches to use it to their advantage, particularly since you're already giving them advice?

If you HAD a coach you shouldn't have to instruct them to use the home field to their advantage.

True. But he (Jones) shouldn't be broadcasting this information. It makes him and his coach look stupid.
