A rusty 40 yo Jason Peters is still the best LT on Cowboys roster.

Tyler is more game shape but he doesn't understand the position like Peters does.

Start Peters at LT in week 1 and keep Tyler at LG.

McGovern blocking Vita Vea is just conceding defeat.

Peters is unlikely to even be active in week one. He's had no camp, just got the Cowboys playbook, and said himself that he needs a couple weeks.

I share your concerns about McGovern, but that's where we are at this point.

I have more faith that 15 year vet Peters will be ready and more successful vs Bucs than McGovern.

Lack of familiarity with Cowboys playbook and everything.

Peters has already seen it all.

I feel that McGovern’s play at left guard should also be a factor. If he’s struggling out there, it might be best to shift Smith to guard and put Peters out there at left tackle.

As per usual he's overly optimistic.

1. Tyron won't be back. Sorry, but I'll believe that one when it happens and not before.

2. He's not only depending on Tyler to excel, but McGovern to do so as well.

3. He's also expecting Steele to play really well (this one I agree with.)

Best case I still see Peters playing guard and helping Tyler. He didn't come here to sit.
McGovern has shown he is solid at RG but absolutely crap at LG

Farniok could definitely do it.

Not going to go that far. We have seen him in very limited action against starters. There may be good reasons why Biadasz is the starter and Farniok is the backup beyond draft position and experience.

The team has already hitched its wagon to the Smith-McGovern combo for at least this first week. And I can even understand the desire to do that. Unless they get Dak hurt, it's not like we can't make the move in a week or two and still have most of the season ahead of us. Also, we're not favored to win these first two games, so you could say it's more important for us to win the ones we're supposed to win in order for the team to accomplish their goals. The long game says these first couple of games are not going to make or break this season. If they do, then the season was already broken.

I'm not counting out his improvement either. Only saying the odds of everyone playing to a level that Peters is only depth are pretty slim.

So, the question becomes how many games do they give Smith IF he is struggling? 1-2-3?

I can't imagine Tyron is back untill the 4th quarter of the season, if that.
Once they put Tyler out there it’s going to have to be a complete disaster to pull him out!

Why? Pride? Hate to hurt players' feelings? ???

A smart team always makes necessary changes when needed. The best 5 should always be starting.

I can't stand how stubborn this team has been since 2016 evaluating the offensive line.

Start your 5 best guys at the positions that make the most sense.
