Jerry on Jason Witten's potential as an NFL Coach

Purcell’s put Witten on the list of the best players he had coached and called him a true football player through and through based on his attitude towards the game, physically and mentally tough and a true student of the game. That said, he doesn’t have any experience coaching at the NFL level and that would be bit of a drawback. However let us not forget some other great coaches and such that didn’t either and got it done rather quickly. Campbell being the latest in Detroit.

Campbell and Witten are nothing alike. Witten was the better football player but Campbell has the personality and communication skills Witten lacks. he's a born leader. Witten is not. Even as a player he wasn't vocal enough and preferred to lead by example. That doesn't fly in coaching.
