I heard Steinbeck on the radio earlier and he said he played this offense his entire career in college. Said it’s awesome and will allow Dak to get rid of the ball quickly and the WR’s will make plays. Than I heard Mike in his presser today that the RB protections are way different than they ever have been. Can’t wait for the first PS game.

I disagree with the comments alluding to the "same old same old". What I read are some specifics that I was hoping to see change that this team clearly has struggled with. Dak definitely struggled to identify both pre and post snap and there was absolutely confusion between he and the WRs on where everyone should/will be. This is exactly what we needed to hear, I'm just wondering why it is coming from the owner instead of the coaches...

That's the issue. If the coach said this, it would be good to hear. Jerry says it and it sounds just like the same garbage he spewed 14 years ago.

So let’s unpack these comments

“less pre snap for Dak to process”
”more opportunities to dump the ball off”
”less for Dak to read after the snap”
” Dak not having to read the receivers d-back”

Jeriatric could have merely said that “ we dumbed down the offense for our quarterback”
He made it sound like the less Dak has to think the better. Dak is fantastic in the hurry up offense, but that also takes some thinking to pull it off.

This team talks too much from the head all the way down.

This is like the year the homers tries to sell us it’s a good thing we don’t have any good #1 type wide receivers. Dak will be forced to spread the ball around.

Dak's best year was his rookie year where he was functionally asked to do the least. I know joking about Jerry and downplaying optimism fits the bill after decades of playoff failures but IMO everything I am reading is going in the right direction.

The big caveats to this are the O line and RB2. If the team can't run the ball, this will fall apart quickly.
They are using many more short crossing routes....guys are getting wide open consistently. That has not been the case in past years.

But is this what we have heard the past 6 years….Dak friendly….just as we heard 8 years plus of Romo friendly.

none of it seems all that friendly, especially in the playoffs.

Tired of this worn out statement.

Yes I am excited to see this offense and changes, and think Dak will rebound from the INT”s.
However, Jerry just stop with this statement.
YES!!!!

Jerry Jones on @dfwticket on what he's excited about with the Cowboys' offensive changes: "It's Dak-friendly. He's going to have an offensive line that is going to be able to protect him better, their spacing is narrower, which is conducive to protection. He's going to have more opportunities to dump the ball off to the backs. He's going to have less to do before the snap, and less to read after the snap. The receivers are going to be less dependent upon reading the d-back and Dak reading the d-back. It's going to be more about being at a spot where they should be. The (combination) of all of it, and all of it is adjustments, not dramatic changes. When you combine it all then I'm confident that we're going to be excited about how it protects Dak and how it actually helps efficiency for Dak."

I assume "narrowing" means linemen will be packed more close together on passing downs.
Won't that give away the play before the snap?

This should be fun lol, where have I heard this before lol
The Cowboys have run a very similiar offense for the last 16 years. Garrett started as the OC in 2007, then was the head coach until 2019. Kellen Moore carried learnings forward from Garrett so we've ran a lot of similar stuff for a while. This is the first time in more than a decade and a half where Garrett's fingerprints arent fully on our scheme. So though we've heard this before there is a different perspective coming in.

Well, you know it's going to be pure vanilla and not show anything. Then the overreaction threads immediately pop up.

Where have we heard this before?
Remember in 2013 about the ”new“ Romo friendly offense?
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profo...is-a-creative-offensive-mind-like-sean-payton

Remember when Jerry said getting Jason Garrett to stop calling plays was the key to our offense?
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/jason-garrett-wont-be-calling-cowboys-offensive-plays-in-2013/

I could post a half a dozen more like this. I just wish the old man would shut up and let the play on the field do the talking. Yeah, I know…he won’t.

I'm not sure if they dumbed down the offense for the QB or if they just dumbed down the report for Jerry.

We have not heard about narrowing the pass pro sets, reducing option routes, or using RB more as hot routes as opposed to personal protectors.

Well said.

Dak is not the "Air Coryell type". He shouldn't be asked to sling around the football. And they have not been playing from behind enough to justify it.

Dak is my guy and I really can't blame him for trying to do what is asked. However, he is not an elite passer. He can be an elite quarterback and has been at times when the attack is balanced. Both Garrett and Moore were obsessed with shoving square pegs into round holes.

When Dak Prescott throws the ball 28 times or less the Cowboys are 27-1. There is no stronger hint for what the Cowboys need to do on offense.

I doubt the offensive line is going to be that stellar. Jerry missed the boat getting a stud guard.
