Jerry on Tapper

Yep...

lol. Too funny!

That's what it sounded like. But then, since it's a congenital defect, he'll be dealing with this his whole career, right? Was it just a unique hit that cause the injury that another player wouldn't have sustained, but something, now healed, he can just play through? Or is it a recurring thing that can happen again, each time needing 8-10 weeks of the season to recover from?
Why Jerry why do the Cowboys draft these guys assuming the FO knew about this problem. Better they draft corpses from the morgue...at least then they would know they will never play. wth!

This one I know was one they reported they did not know about in advance, and was not something ordinarily screened for prior to the draft. But your point is well-taken, anyway. Don't like the fliers on injured players with upside.

Youd rather him not have surgery on his back. Most spinal surgery severely impact movement. The best thing for him is conservative care and core stabilization exercises. If he keeps up with his core exercises he should be fine to hit the field.

Well if Tapper comes back at full strength I expect him to be close to what we got from Collins. Similar underrated player that will contribute right away. I loved the Tapper pick just no one knew he had an injury issue. Guy just always seemed to be around the ball, making tackles, pushing the pocket, and generally disruptive. Fantastic motor too.

And you've always been consistent with that critique. I think (read: pray) Jerry and the FO has had its fill on these risk/reward players. I think we have also been kinda lackluster on drafting defensive players (not to say that Collins, Brown, Lee, and Jones haven't been gems).

Here's to a strong (defensive) draft. And perhaps some solid FA acquisitions.

Confused by the Tapper injury. It's a previously undiagnosed congenital skeletal defect, right? That they didn't correct?

Eeek. If nothing got fixed...where's the grounds for optimism?

Gawd we seem jinxed on getting help for that line.

:banghead:

I'm also confused. Back in September I distinctly remember hearing Tapper say he "was very close" to returning to practice and then he suffered "a setback". Since he went on injured reserve shortly thereafter I assumed he had to have surgery to correct the problem.

I'm eager to see him on the field and truly hope the condition is not a career-threatening thing.

Short shallow breaths until I can find another paper bag to breath into. when jerry says something like "hope" or "think" about a players health it's scary, God speed Charles, rooting for you man.
