On if there is any chance that a quarterback is selected by the Cowboys with their first round draft pick:
"I'm not, and couldn't, and wouldn't get into where we would be strategy-wise or what positions that we might go with. I've seen several of the players that will be available to us and had preliminary evaluations of those players that will be available really in the first three rounds. And beyond that is where we'll be doing a lot of work. But I couldn't go there now as to what positions or what we might do. We need a lot of help in a lot of different areas."

reading between the lines it sounds like there might be a good chance Jerry trades down to pick up more picks. Financially that might make sense too if Jerry sees a rookie wage scale coming.

As of today I would most likely trade down if possible to the teens and try to pick up another second rounder.

Not that I would be in the market for a QB but If a rookie pay scale is in place, it might make sense to grab Mallet or Newton for a cheap price opposed to drafting one high in the future, paying 10-15 million per year.

Sounds to me no position is ruled out. If there is a rookie pay scale in place I would be in favor of taking a flyer on Newton if he fell. The pay scale would balance the risk/reward facture.

You dont need that quote to tell you that Jerry would like to trade down.

but that is the point. we don't know when the wage scale will or if it will be in place. we don't know if it will apply to this class but Jerry should have an inkling being very involved from the management side.

cause trading down worked so well the last time.

Tell him Teague.. he must not realize that all drafts are the same.

What a loser.

I like the idea of trading down. I put together a plan to trade down from 6 to 30 when it looked like we may get the 6th pick.

Going off the value chart the 9th pk (1350) can get you the 17th pk (950) and the 49th pk (410).
At that point I'd consider another trade down, unless an OT or FS of exceptional value was availible.
I'd be very happy with that. We get an extra 2nd and a player we really like at a huge need spot.

What really excites me is the idea of trading down a few more times and end up exchanging that 9th pick for the 32nd 49th 64th and 96th. Then our draft looks like this:
1(32)
2(41)
2(49)
2(64)
3(73)
3(96)
4(105)
5(137)
6(169)
7(210)

Stop trying to find meaning in the statement. It's called a non-answer because he doesn't want people to know what they are doing.
