I don't think the holdout really is playing hardball and all this will be water under the bridge in a few days. But Zeke's agent fired the first shot when they held out of camp, they can't complain about rounds coming back at them.

Hard ball would be demanding a trade etc.

I don't know that Jerry really wants to go into the season without Zeke. He's gonna lose all leverage if the Giants manage to beat us. Eli always seems to come up with ways to screw us at the worst possible moments.

Zeke really has no leverage at this point. If Jerry would start the fines, then he has even less.
Do it Jerry.

His real leverage is hurting the team by not being on the field which he’s doing. If he wants to make it ugly he can, ask for a trade, threaten to retire, etc. etc. do I think it will go that far? Trade request maybe, retire, I highly doubt it. But I guess you could consider that all leverage

Yep.. Zeke has to show up by week 10 or the process starts over again.

Zeke's "leverage" costs him a fortune at the end of the day and he can't even use that leverage the entire year.

And if Jerry really wants to be hardball, Zeke will be basically playing for free. The fines from training camp and the regular season will exceed his salary for weeks 10 and onward.

If they want Zeke long term well of course they are going to offer contracts under their terms when they control 95% of the leverage..

Zeke’s only leverage is to sit out and it costs him 230k a week and 4 million total if he sits out until week 10.

Dallas is in no rush because it would just be stupid to be in a rush.

No. Zeke's leverage is that he sits out and it hurts enough to have the entire season lost because he's been relied on so much. The entire season. And we've been over the "it'll cost him" thing. If he signs a new deal, the team has the flexibility to waive all that which I believe has happened out there. Even so, if a $4M gamble nets you $50M guaranteed, them's good odds to try.

But Glazer said JJ was gonna get Zeke signed asap right @FuzzyLumpkins ?!

if you are going to call me out at least get my takes right. I just that Glazer had sources in the NFL front offices and with agents ie he was not pulling his prediction from nothing. I never claimed certainty in an outcome.

Plus, it is cute that you take negotiating posturing as gospel the other way.

Certainty is an illusion.

Do it Jerry.
Won it in 1998, yes.
Jerry should've said in the last 20 years to be more accurate.
Or maybe, just maybe...not say anything at all.

I really don't fault Zeke or Jerry Jones for their stances, but as a fan of the Cowboys as a team, I tend to side with Jerry on this. He's got the entire team in mind while Zeke has only himself in mind.

that would be the nuclear option if zeke shows up and plays badly

Maybe...just maybe, you should STHU!!! Jerry is just fine and if you don't know it, he's negotiating.
I know what the heck hes doing I've been a part of football since b4 you let go of the tit most likely. I don't need your advice. The negotiating would probably go better if he didn't have diarrhea of the mouth every time someone puts a mic in front of him. He also is going back and forth sending mixed signals and I'm on his side here

Probably based on how much alcohol hes had.

Dallas could but would they pay him for games not played? I doubt it.

Also, I think you're putting too much value into 1 season and that is what a bad salary cap spender would do.

The team is prepared to play without him and they get him back by week 10 anyways so he still has to play almost half the season.

So you're only real argument is that Dallas might give him game checks back if they feel generous and OH NO THE SEASON IS LOST even though he still has to come back by week 10.

Zeke's leverage that you say he has depends on Jerry Jones getting stupid with his money.

Dallas has him and there isn't much he can do about it for another 2 years besides sit and get fined.

That's risky for him, since he will be risking the Cowboys getting on some sort of winning streak without him. If Dak can manage to prove all of his doubters wrong and improve on his overall game as a QB, then it could backfire on Zeke. I hope we do manage to win games without him, since I'm for the Cowboys before any individual player.

Let me clear this up:

Emmitt Smith was the leading rusher 1991-1993, and 1995 and collected 3 Super Bowl Rings, Terrell Davis was the leading rusher in the AFC 1996-1998, leading rusher NFL 1998, and collected 2 Super Bowl rings in that time period. Jim Brown led the league in rushing 1957-1961, 1963-1965, played in 3 championship games, collecting 1 NFL Championship, and never had a losing season finishing 1st in the division 4 times in 9 years.

During the last 10 years only one team that won the Super Bowl did not have the leading rusher in the game and out rushed their opponents. The only time it did not happen, Pete Carroll refused to give a RB nicknamed "Beast Mode" the ball at the 1 yard line to rush for an easy TD that would have won the Super Bowl. Beast Mode rushed for 132 yards in that game.

Finally, Jason Garrett's only double digit winning seasons occurred with the leading rusher in the NFL (Demarco Murray 2014, Elliott 2016, 2018). His record without the leading rusher in the NFL is 5 games below .500.

I do not know why anyone listens to Jerry Jones.

Agreed about the retiring but if he requests a trade it could really hurt the chemistry of the team and if we do let it get that far I think it would be looked back as a mistake not to trade him before it got that far. So there is some leverage he holds

Lol it was you who wanted to go on about his "sources" when he referenced none. It was a piece based on speculation and you felt the need to get snippy at me.

Respect is earned. How has Zeke been respectful with how he has acted, said and allowed those around him to say about Jerry, Dak, Jaylon and the organization while he holds out in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico?
Dak has made a crap load of money off endorsement deals and then the goes on record saying he will not give a hometown discount. How is that "respectful"? He could have and should have kept his mouth shut. Zeke has lead the league in rushing, Dak has been a second tier QB and he's demanding top money and telling the media, no hometown discount? C'mon! I like Dak, but Zeke deserves his money more than Dak.

You have to really ignore the big picture to think Zeke has any leverage in this situation lol.

But because Dallas offered him a new contract people think that means Zeke really does have leverage when all Dallas is doing is trying to get him locked up longterm under a deal that favors them against his knuckleheadedness and how cheap he'll be after inflation.
