This could be a defining moment for this team this season. Kind of like week 17 for the Giants last year. They could have sat their starters and let the Patriots walk all over them for an undeated season but they chose to play hard for 4 quarters. They didn't win but they found out they could hang with the Patriots, they found out their coach had confidence in them, and it propelled them to a superbowl win.

I hear but its too early in season to compare it to Giants week 17 of last year.... I think that its similar to Eli and his shoulder injury where he was supposed to miss about a month... then he played

If Wade backs down and shows weakness by making Romo sit when he wants to play, the team will continue to be weak and leaderless. This is the prefect opportunity to let Romo become a true leader and get the entire team behind him. It could help this team develop what it obviously lacks which is heart and leadership. If he plays and it become apparent that he cannot throw the ball well enough, then you bring in Johnson. Romo will still earn much respect for the attempt and the team will be stronger when he comes back.

I dont get this.

A good coach has to make the call play or dont play. Romo should have nothing to do with it.

All this talk of Romo possibly playing could very well be nothing but a ploy to make the Rams prepare for BOTH Romo and Brad.

It will undoubtfully make Brad more effective the less time the Rams have in practice to prepare for specifically him and his short game since they must at this point also prepare to face Romo and his more open and mid-range to long game.

Jerry Jones, making an appearance with 1310 The Ticket's Dunham and Miller show, confirmed that there is a strong possibility that Tony Romo could play Sunday despite a broken pinkie.

"He very well could play," said Jerry, who actually caught a few of Romo's passes in the Cowboys' indoor facility yesterday morning. Romo wanted Jerry to get a feel for the kind of zip he could put on the ball. Jerry left the route-running to Jason Witten.

Jerry said the decision would probably be left up to Wade Phillips and Romo. The owner/GM could step in if he thinks there is a significant possibility of doing further damage to the finger.

Try it out... If there is discomfort, get him out. Nothing says he has to play all 4 quarters.

If anything it will give the Rams something else to think about.

It had been reported that if he does further damage that this risks potentially season ending surgery.

I think I'd like to see him sit at least a game. If we lost him for the duration, we'd definitely be screwed.

I don't think that it's in Wade's nature to act like this. I mean, he never really struck me as being cut from the same cloth as a Parcells or even a Bellichek.

Just my opinion, but if he mans up like this and shows heart, and the rest of the team isn't aware of how much they need to pick it up and show the same kind of grit, that they need an EKG to make sure their hearts are even beating.

It's a broken pinkie, man. Phillip Rivers played on a blown knee. Romo needs to sit his butt down before he makes this injury worse, I don't care about October, I care about December and January. Even if he just takes two weeks off, that's better than rushing back out there.

I like the fact that he wants to play, but I DONT want him to play. We are playing the rams, i wouldnt want to risk him getting hurt worse for a team that we should be able to beat without a problem without him. I would rather him heal up for the Giants game.

The way our extremely out of shape o-line pass protects, he is extremely grateful that Tony may play.

Jerry just told the musers...He was playing catch with tony yesterday!!!!!

He said romo was trying to show everyone how he has zip on the ball and he does. The only issue is can he handle the pain. He was playing catch with witten and jerry.

Apparently they put a special cast on the finger and Tony is fine with it, it is just an issue of pain.

I think Dallas should go ahead and have Johnson start this upcoming game and give Romo a bit more time to recover from the injury.
