Jerry said about FS - "I like what we can do from within"

Anyone claiming this is great news is off their rocker. The FS position has been terrible in Dallas for the better part of this decade. Last year was probably rock bottom, and the news comes out we're keeping the same scrubs from last year and everyone is happy?

Even if Watkins is the answer (and considering how terrible he looked last season, I have a hard time believing that) not bringing in someone to at least compete with him and Davis is ridiculous.

You forgot......and the CowboysZone goes into a panic the likes we have never seen before.

I think your 8-Ball is just blowing smoke. :)

Really, though, if we accept the premise that the Cowboys don't want to draft a first rounder who doesn't start -- there aren't so many positions where a rookie would likely start.

I don't see a new rookie starting at QB, OL, WR, DT, ILB, or OLB.

A 1st round RB pick is unlikely ... to get a value RB in the 1st round, the Cowboys somehow would have to move up for Peterson or Lynch (and traded Julius Jones away).

Maybe a CB, if either the rookie CB or Henry moved inside to FS.

And I don't see a 1st round choice on a true FS, because the value isn't there at 22.

.

Yes. I can see us drafting a CB in the 1st/2nd round [I could see us trading down to get an extra pick ]

Henry then becomes a burden. He's expensive [3.6 mil for '07] and his play in 2006 was terrible.

Watkins isn't going anywhere. He's our starter at FS.

June is probably the end of the line for Henry.

Hey, I'm spot on with that analysis... that's why I'm thinking that a trade-down is a distinct possibility at this point. Heck, I'd take another trade like we did with the Bills-- give up our first for a 2nd and 5th and then get their 1st next year.

Not even close, Henry will be a Cowboy and starting again this year as he shoild be... He's not going anywhere.

Just trying to get these guys to give up their protection and go natural.

You've been in upstate NY too long.

We're not ALL as irresponsible as McGahee.

But if I change my name to less of a nickname, and more of an actual name, it's gonne look alot like yours.

Are you prepared for that?

Well, to be honest, I want to see more out of Romo as well.

When asked Friday about the possibility of drafting a FS.

I'm very pleased about that. I think Watkins is going to be a terrific.

I think you can scratch "FS" off of your mocks that show Dallas picking one in the first round.

My take on that.

Dallas has a GAPPING hole in the secondary for over 2 years now.

I say they are greatly concerned, but would like to have a top CB fall to them and would take him and start him and move Henry to FS.

But they are not going to announce that to the World right now.

My 2 cents.

Jerry is not stupid enough to openly reveal the Boys' needs (or lack of) so close to the draft. I would not put any stock in anything that GM's or owners say at this point.

What do you expect him to say? "I think Pat Watkins is terrible and has no chance of becoming a good FS" ???

Do you think other teams are so incredibly incompetent as to not know what other teams need?

Is there anything you like about this team?

No kidding, he could be cheerleader for the morgue. How about we give the process a chance. I see a better coaching staff in place and the Oline bolstered.

Things could be a lot worse

And that worked out sooooo well.

So are you saying that you did not see any improvements in PW toowards the end of the season b/c I sure did!

For all the people that think Jerry is "blowing smoke" please find me a SINGLE INSTANCE where Jerry has "blown smoke" when it comes to the draft.

Just one.

Find me one.

Please.

And you don't "blow smoke" when you're sitting at #22. Give me a break.

Just one. I think you may be being a bit narrow here. In 2002, Jerry was talking a lot about running backs-- TJ Duckett and William Green-- IIRC, and of course we drafted Roy Williams. I think Jerry has certainly blown smoke a few times about the draft, but he's also said things that turned out be accurate.

YES!

Henry and A. Glenn are huge problems.

Well I will say that's a good example of him blowing smoke.

Much better than one someone else suggested about Jerry "trading picks"...

Truth is you can't tell what Jones means by anything that's said betwen now and the draft.
