Not a ridiculous statement.

Maybe we are in the minority, but I don't think the statement was all that bad. So this is suppose to be disrespect to Calvin Johnson if someone says that one of the best, if not THE best CB of all time could cover him? What's next, Jerry Rice shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as Calvin Johnson? The guy is damn good, but posting up 329 yards on our record setting defense for pure suckness covers a lot of ground, I guess.

The comment wasn't ridiculous. The point is he's the owner of a team that just gave up 329 yards to Megatron. Anyone with class and decency would have given Megatron the respect he earned after humiliating our team. It just comes off as poor sportsmanship to say something like this less than 24 hours after the game. "Yeah, you might've had a good game yesterday, but I had a guy on my team 15 years ago who would've beat you. So ha ha."

Because I'd rather have food poisoning than listen to Jerry talk I'll ask this for the fans that listen to his radio show.

Do his shows consist of these silly questions about a corner who retired many years ago or do they ask him questions about oh let's see our current team & how we are setting records for sucking?

It is not about why he answered the question, it is more about how IMO. The GM of a football team allowed his coaches to let Carr play solo with Calvin. He wasn't worried about him after all, Bush was the threat

He should have been talking about how to correct that and that the def coaches made a mistake. This was more of a slap in the face to Brandon than anything. Lets let our corner shut down one of the best ever WR's then mock him after he was set up to fail.

Jerry said he wasn't worried before the game and after, he says Deion could have covered him.

Well, I respect your opinion and how you perceived Jerry's comments. I just disagree, totally. I am not trying to stand up for Jerry, but at the same time, I am not going to put words in his mouth or question his motive for saying what he said. That last quoted sentence in your post shows that we just have a different interpretation of where Jerry was coming from. Honestly, I did not hear his comments, but based on the title of the OP, I don't see them as being "disrespectful".

Jerry says a lot of things and will continue to say the damnedest things. Why is everyone so surprised?

Just Jerry being Jerry. Unlike Garrett, I have never known him to shy away from questions comparing his great players, past or present, to other great players of today or past years. He never deflected the Troy vs Romo question or the Dez vs Calvin Johnson question, for example. Personally, I would never give my opinion on things like this in the media, until after I left the game, but I don't think it's as bad as some people make it out to be.

Lol, very true. Listening to Jerry's comments since he entered the league, I guess that's why I'm not phased by this last one.

Sanders could most likely keep him well under 300 yards. Heck, most of the DBs on bad teams can do that. Should have been triple covering him all game, and make the lions beat you with Ogletree.
