FRISCO, Texas – If there has been a buzz over the last few days questioning the Cowboys’ support system for Dak Prescott, the front office made sure to set the record straight on Thursday.
Both Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones said in separate interviews following an announcement about new tenants coming to the team headquarters, The Star, that there is no current quarterback debate on their hands.
“We completely support Dak as our starting quarterback, unequivocally. That’s that,” said Jerry Jones. “There’s no issue there at all, and we’re very fortunate – and I’ve said that, that we have depth there. You’ve certainly got depth in a big way when you’ve got Tony Romo sitting there, and that’s not trying to be cute.”
Earlier in the week, Jones was asked on his radio show on 105.3 The Fan, what it might take for the Cowboys to make the switch to Romo, prompting his answer of “we’ll know it when we see it.” Jones also allowed himself to think of the possibility of Romo coming into the game if Dak were to get injured and the chances of a storybook season for his veteran.
Yet, it was rather clear on Thursday the focus remains with the rookie quarterback all the way.
“I have no doubt that he will bounce back,” Stephen Jones said. “I would bet on him. Whether it’s in the middle of games or the next step, he’s up for the challenge. I’m just a 110 percent believer in Dak.”

Translation: "I was liquored up on Johnny Walker and when I came off my buzz, Stephen and RHG told me I can't speak to the press when I'm inebriated, and, BTW, they're both firmly behind Dak."

I think he is being supportive of Romo, Jerry is loyal to players sometimes to a fault. I think Jerry knows this is not easy for Romo but when asked after the Giants game did the Cowboys think of going to Romo he was quick to say no there was no thought of making the change.

I agree. I was just trying to me funny. Jerry Jones is IMMENSELY loyal. I think this loyalty personally cost us better teams. (I always thought the Cowboys were too reluctant to replace via the draft or to move on from Troy Aikman, Deion Sanders, Emmitt Smith, Randy Gregory, Ro McClain because of loyalty to these players when they were past their prime (No pun intended) or when they exhibited behavior that would warrant their dismissal.)

I can't fault Jerry for his humanity, even if it does cost us on the football side.

In a way, it's kinda funny how Jerry paints himself into a corner by making bold statements and then is compelled to backtrack and extract himself from the mess he creates. In another way, it's pretty sad that he can't control his verbal impulses better than he does. We've all known this to be an obvious part of Jerry's makeup from the beginning of his reign as owner/GM of this team. Looks like we'll just be obliged to take his verbal offerings with a grain of salt as long as his presence with the Cowboys exists. Granted, it might not be ideal but unfortunately, it's still our cross to bear. ;) Nevertheless, I wouldn't trade our position right now with the vast majority of the teams in this league. Hopefully, it'll all work out in the end.

Of course they support him is that a question? This isn't about supporting anyone it's about winning another championship.

If they didn't support him I'd be a bit confused why he is even here? I mean if they went to Romo at all it's because he's struggling, but that doesn't mean they don't support him they know he's a rookie. I mean really?

I am still amazed that they made Dak the starting QB based on 9 games and shut the door on Romo with a body of work spanning over a decade.

It was either a rash decision based on media pressure, or they know that Romo just isn't the same qb he was in the past. If its the latter, they are making the right decision. But if its the former...

So, we have Stephen Jones saying that Dak had a ****** game and needs to bounce back. Linehan said he has bounced back in practice, as did Witten. So it seems as if the people that count do acknowledge that Dak had a bad game, unlike a bunch of people here. Heck, Garrett said at halftime of the game that Dak had missed some things. It didn't get better in the second half.

Seems like that 10 day stretch was a busy one for Dak and maybe he lost a bit of focus. Hopefully taking some heat will push him back towards being the guy that didn't go out so he could stay in and study his playbook like he was earlier in the year. Out partying and spraying champagne and going "Hollywood" for a TV ad are not what helped him succeed when he got the call.

Looking for a big bounce back game this weekend...not expecting a ton of points to be honest, the Bucs are very stingy, but want to see good decisions, better mechanics and some use of his running ability.

Might be why guys like Irvin were saying that a loss might do them some good....guys maybe getting a bit too big for their britches and need to refocus.

True anything can change but I do think they are assuring Dak so that he is not looking over his shoulder and not undermining him as a leader of this team.

There is no doubt he had a bad game. I sometimes think people get the impression if you say a player had a bad game that you are somehow slamming him. Players have bad games, anyone who has played sports has had bad games. The key is bouncing back from bad games.

27 years. People have experienced nearly three decades of Jerry Jones and his mouth. One would think that would be more than enough time for anyone to get a true grasp of him but even people who have known the man intimately like Aikman are still clueless.

Parcells is right. People do get sucked.

thats the idea, but it is only temporary till they see how he does in next game at home with tampa.
They said before he could have a bad game and a loss, well he had those, but if it continues, they will easily change their minds.

people take him seriously when it suits their purposes and call him a moron when it suits that purpose. :)

Bleu Star blaming the receivers. Clove is just deflecting every Dak question by bashing Romo.

and the receivers did carry some of the blame. not all, no. but some.

so - are you saying
1) you disagree the receivers had anything to do with his performance?
2) he's ONLY blaming the receivers and putting ZERO accountability on Dak? (and i ignore this person so you'd have to tell me)
3) or that both receivers and the qb were not in synch and both could have contributed to the loss?
4) it's all on Dak period.
