It's pretty obvious that no other team in the NFL would hire Jerry as a GM.

100% agree and there's absolutely no debating that........

I think all Jerry's advantages of being able to outspend every other team went away with the salary cap -- especially in recent years as the cap has evolved to force more parity on all NFL teams.

Jerry never used that advantage except when he realized he couldn't draft worth crap. Then he tried to fix his errors with high priced FA's and overpaying aging vets which goes against the logic of the cap.

Our advantage in Jerry's early days was that we had a guy who could identify talent and we built a dynasty through the draft. We never outspent anyone to acquire players to win those SB's. One can argue Deion but we could have won without him, IMO. Aikman was once asked about the acquisition of Sanders and basically said we had the talent to win it all and that Deion could come along for the ride.

As a follow-up, the whole "Jerry will spend money" is really a load of BS. He was notoriously cheap in the early days. He would never pay a head coach what the going rate was, often going on the cheap, and made an offer to Terry Donahue that he balked at and walked when everyone thought it was a done deal. If I recall correctly, Switzer, Gailey and Campo were some of the lowest paid HC's in the league, if not THE lowest paid. He was also tried to go cheap with Irvin and, of course, Emmitt resulting in his hold-out. He went cheap with Kenny Norton who left to go to the 49er's and that had an impact on our D at the time.

When he bought the Cowboys, he promised the team's employees that their job was safe and a short time layer fired those same employees. Jerry's a snake oil salesman.........

Eliot Wolf should be the GM of this franchise.

Risen Star nailed it when he said the OP is a teen or perhaps an early twenty who wasn't aware when the team was winning Super Bowls.

Jimmy made the player personnel decisions back in the day.

Perhaps the worst thing that could have happened to this franchise was the 1995 Championship, because it caused Jerry to think he can assemble a Champion. He was dead wrong because that was still Jimmy's team.

But then Jerry tends to have delusions about a great many things.

The 13-3 season was a Parcels team, not a Jerry's team.

Look at the Patriots. That's what it was like back with Landry. Hovering near the top year in and year out.

This team allows the players to go to the GM who is the owner and that disrupts the chain of command. The decisions made by the GM are sometimes so counter intuitive it is laughable.

And this season Dallas might - reread that, might - end up 5-11.

I'll say it again.

Eliot Wolf should be the GM of this franchise.

Or Ozzie Newsome. Or Thomas Dimitroff.

16 years of his ineptitude we have suffered. Ware will retire without a ring due to our Jack (beanstalk reference) selling off our future not one but twice, and not for Magic beans, just regular old baked beans? Cause we sure haven't found the Giants layer filled with riches.

Whoever grabs Eliot Wolf has a GM for the next quarter century.

Somebody is going to make him the youngest GM in NFL history next season. His name is already being associated with the Panthers gig.

Name me one NFL team that would hire Jerry as their GM?........that should tell you all you need to know about Jerry's complete and utter failure as a GM over the last 16 years....

No team would hire Jerry as a GM. That tells you all that is needed. I would like some of the Jerry defenders to name just one. The only reason that he holds the position is money. He just happens to have enough to own the Cowboys. He is not a great football man. It is a joke to think so.

And the clock is ticking on the OP or any other Jerry supporter providing a logical, convincing response to this.

I wonder if ownership of any business organization is highly concerning upon the deciding of management concepts within that company. It applies to the NFL, as it does to all private business. You either like the product, or you don't. That is the final line with a business product.

But product is usually disjoined from management.

Too often, there is high ground assumed by fans, who feel that by circumstance directed and disappointing level, they can project themselves into a superior role and a better understanding of function in a sport.

Bottom line, the team is as likely to right itself, no many how many lines in the sand by fans. Or insults thrown merely from discussing team involved issues and not an insult catch all of Jerry Jones.

Want real reason to be upset? Have your favorite hunting dog eaten by a 'crock' and not just projectecting as some fans do, to insights and accomplishments of mainly imaginary natures.

What that does, although, is it throws out valid discussion of every other issue or principal that has merit as well.

Since Jimmy Johnson began coaching with the Dolphins in 1996, he has as many wins in the playoffs as the Cowboys (2).....

.....despite not having coached in 13 years.

Jerry Jones is this generations version of George Steinbrenner, who finally had the sense to hire the right people and step aside and watch his Yankees win several Championships, and just sign the checks. That's what JJ should do, step aside and hire a Jimmy Johnson type man. Maybe a Bill Cowher. :banghead:

To be fair, it took Steinbrenner being suspended from baseball to allow the changes for the Yankees to take root.

I disagree with this. He kept the FO people and the lady who worked in that office and basically ran it for Tex & Tom. Not sure if she's still there, but she was for years after JJ bought the team.
I know and worked with a lady who's fiance worked and was high up in the chain of command for JJ. Throughout all the SB's in the 90's.
She said he was and is extremely loyal to his employees, and many stayed on after he bought the team. She still keeps the SB rings in a safe deposit box in a bank around the corner from my house.

Her fiance was killed in an accident but yet the FO kept in contact with his family. His mother was a hair dresser for Troy Aikman's mom, and as of a few years ago, still was.

Jerry's official title is Owner/President/GM. Anyone with half a brain and no ax to grind understands that Jerry is Tex Schram with ownership.

I really wish he'd drop the GM title since he's never operated as the GM.

He hasn't?

I wonder how many of these stud players are pro-bowlers. Anyone that takes up for a loser GM who's done JACK CRAP in the last decade and a half, deserves misery.

Jerry has done nothing more than make us the punch-line to fans outside of the organization. His refusal to hire a legitimate coach (who's not close to retirement) has handicapped this franchise.

We are an embarrassment, and Jones doesn't care. He's a billionaire, everything he's ever wanted in life, but he's too selfish to do the one thing this franchise and fan base needs him to do, STHU and let someone else run the football operations.

So keep bringing in these so called studs, the Cowboy misery will continue.
