with that said, this is result of stupidity of Jerry. he traded a 4th. then he declined his 5th year option. then he had to give him a roster bonus, so he counts the same against the cap whether he is on the team or not, so essentially this is a cap decision, not a player decision

I’ll give Jerry the benefit of the doubt and assume that some reporter asked him if Lance was on the 53, and Jerry was just answering the (dumb) question.

My issue with this is, why can't Jerry just answer, "I will leave that decision up to the coaches and the announcement of the 53."

Think about the other players who are fighting for positions. You have just announced that a player who is not a locked in starter is "turk" free.

I don’t see the big issue in Jerry commenting on this? Hes the GM and GMs set the roster. How’s this undermining the HC? Plenty of examples of Jerry overstepping but this doesn’t seem like one.
