Stephen will want to cut Zeke and Tyron after this season.

Jerry will want to keep them.

Stephen has gotten his way with the cuts of Jerry pet cats like Dez & Jaylon as well replacing Garrett.

It appears that Stephen didn't really want to re-sign Gregory but RG was Jerry's pet cat. Stephen offered the contract but irritated RG/agent and they didn't sign it.

Stephen definitely didn't want to give Zeke the big contract but Jerry had a meltdown and insisted.

Stephen hates over-paying players relative to their contributions.

Zeke has a salary of.10.9M for 2023.
- It is the 1st time his salary is not guaranteed.

Tyron has a 13.6M salary for 2023.

Current year Cap hit does not matter with regards to keep or cut decisions. The non-guaranteed base salaries are the deciding criteria with regards to cap dollars in keep/cut scenarios.
- They save 100% of the non-guaranteed base salary if they cut the player. The savings might be spread over 2 seasons but they save all of it.
- They manage the cap on a multi-year basis, not on a 1 year at a time basis.

A lot of theses.

You have any sources for your allegations ?

You realize McG is playing quite well right?

You realize McG is in his contract year, right?
He's leaving even sooner than Steele and Biadasz.

McG is just another guy leaving, giving us another reason to keep Tyron another year.

Restructure and keep Zeke . He’s a great team mate, great pass protector and bruising runner. He’s not explosive anymore but that’s ok.

If Tyron seems healthy when he comes back, I bet we roll with him again next year. No guaranteed money. Last year of his contract.

They're putting Smith back at G this year. Get rid of Tyron, and we have to go find a G for next year.

Real good oline with Biadasz and Steele entering contract years next year. They're gonna give Tyron every chance to keep playing.
If they can save money, they will as there are other big extensions coming soon

Why can't we re-sign him? I mean if he is playing well and is young, why would you let him leave just to "try" to replace him? Regardless of what Tyron is able to do the remainder of this year, I have no confidence in making plans around him at this point in his career.

Hankins is nice add but Linval and/or Suh would be clear upgrades over Bohanna and Watkins.

What happens if Hankins goes down?

There's degrees to this.

There have to be reasons that no team signed them until game 10.

When older veterans sign cheap contracts, it's more about their desire to play than money.

Suh was convinced to play by a coach that he had been with previously.

The Cowboys obviously preferred Hankins over Joseph. Maybe the same reason is why Joseph was not an option to replace Watkins even after adding Hankins.

Joseph started his career in the North East. Maybe he lives up there already.

Run defense has really only been an issue in 1 loss this season.

They were not going to beat the Eagles with Cooper Rush throwing 3 INTs.

They were not going to beat the Bucs with only 3 points scored.

McG is not anywhere near the quality we'd think about signing unless we perceived the contract as significantly under market value.
Like the TWill signing, which as it turns out we still completely overpaid for.

Nobody next year that I can think of, while we should already be dropping two 7figure contracts with Zeke and Schulz.

I don't think cap is a big problem next year or the next. 2024 Gallup is gone. And we have the 5th year on Lamb, Micah, and Tyler.

Can get out of DLaw in 2024.

Tyron isn't even signed in 2024.

Diggs and Biadasz in 2024. Diggs probably makes sense to do a year early to spread the cap hit out further, and give him the benefit of getting money early.
Though I wonder if that really matters for him. He probably insures his career versus injury and can otherwise get loans for anything he'd want. No need for him to delay living large.

Tyron should be an easy decision with the play of Tyler Smith this season, Zeke is a whole other story. Best friend is Dak and is considered a team leader. Cannot see him playing with his current deal, but perhaps a paycut like Tank took this yr.

Tank did not take a paycut. He restructured. Frankly, I would not restructure Zeke. I'd let him walk.

Nah Stephen is just as bad as Jerry. He's the reason that left Amari go for next to nothing. And he's the reason why we didn't find a suitable replacement. Now were clamouring for OBJ who might sign for an outrageous contract with the Cowboys.

Stephen was the one who coined the term "anyone can run behind this oline". We ended up letting Murray go in 2014 and had a disastrous 2015 because of it. Both Jerry and Stephen caved to Zeke's command and thus here we are stuck with Zeke.

you should try actually watching the all 22 of Suh/Joseph and you would see how completely wrong you are.

RB is the cheapest position to Tag.
2022
RB 9.5M
WR 18M

They pay less for the RB position in 2023 than 2022 if they Tag Pollard and cut Zeke.

They can draft a RB and see how M. Davis develops.

If the draft pick or Davis show starter ability, then no need to keep Pollard for 2024. If not then pay Pollard if he proves himself as the #1 RB in 2023.

Like the way you think, hombre.... Just like i would like it handled. Use Pollard the way they are using Schultz this year. That's another $11m off the books next year.

He didn't really want to do it and those negotiations were lengthy with DLaw on the tag into April.

This off-season he gave DLaw/agent the offer of cut or pay cut. Then the story narrative came out as "Jerry stepped in and worked it out". DLaw ended up taking a pay cut but not as big of a cut as SJ's initial offer.
I figure Zeke and Tank will be June 1st cuts. They are stars, but they are not super elite stars. June first-ing those two guys would free up 26 million.

You must have missed their first game with Eagles then.

Both Suh and Linval did not miss a beat.
