Yes, since jerry cant keep his mouth shut, he just destroyed any credibility the coach had (as if he had any to begin with) and the aforementioned 'culture change' is now defunct.....right on schedule in the past 31 years....

It's a double-edged sword. Play the starters in the pre-season and a major contributor gets hurt, like Romo did, our fans say he shouldn't have been playing in the pre-season.

Don't play the main starters at all in the preseason and we start off sloppy, our fans say they should be playing in the pre-season.

I understand both sides. Glad I don't have to make those decisions.

Jerry admits, after just one game, that he had inflated expectations for this team. Where was that analysis before the season started? It was ignored because of his arrogance. When you consistently need to be shown the error of your ways before you see it, you deserve others' conclusion that you are incapable of figuring these things out for yourself. In other words, you're incompetent, and worse, you're too incompetent to fire yourself as GM and let someone competent do the job.

I have three sons who think I’m crazy for putting up with this dysfunctional organization for so long. I was a Cowboys fan 25 years before anyone had ever heard of Jerry Jones.

But I completely understand those who are done. My sons are huge sports fans. My oldest is nearly 43 and he was 12 the last time the Cowboys won anything. He and my second oldest son are big Dallas Mavs and Stars fans and consider the Cowboys an unserious organization.

Hard to argue with that.

By 'we", I assume you mean "you".

The reason you thought they weren't "playing at the level" you thought they would is because you don't understand NFL football the way a GM should.

You had eight new starters on defense. Did you think they were just magically going to become a cohesive unit working in perfect synchronization?

It doesn't matter how productive they were in the past, the first step is to become part of a team. Great players don't matter unless they contribute to forming a great team. That takes time.

Playing them during the preseason would have helped. You can't prevent injuries by preventing participation because it is self-defeating. You are preventing preparation.

The defense will improve quicker than usual because a lot of the players are seasoned veterans. They have been through this before.

To be efficient, a player must know the teammates he is playing beside, their abilities, their tendencies, their speed, their girth. He must know what they will do under certain circumstances so he can do his job without getting in the way of others.

This is a one-sided rebuild in every sense from the players to the philosophy to the coaches. These dogs have never been part of the same pack before. We saw sloppy play but we also saw some individual efforts that demonstrated potential

Of course, it doesn't help that two of the three pervious starters are now questionable or out.

With that said, you can't build a defense in a day.

This is why my prediction at the beginning of the season was 10-7 with the Cowboys going 4-4 in the first eight weeks, followed by 6-3 in the last nine weeks
